Not exactly but put some lower v8 hp badge on 730 that would confuse anyone....

Actuallyi would never buy 730 for normal loads because it use 10L more oil and oil intervals are shorter and it can not run on mineral oil that cost too much and it is pretty expensive and no manual transmission and i hate sound of 3pedal opticruise while shifting 2pedal is still rare and cost more

In belgium was a company where they use a R730 to haul styrofoam. Because of that they ruined the drivetrain and gearbox.

Because styrofoam is so light, there is always a high amount of power on the drive train. Without using it because the load weights about 5 tons

    that does not make sense

my father used to pull 92-95ton back in past..... with 256hp mercedes that is 203-210k lbs on 6axles

    for us US forum members

hauling that kind of weight in mud and off road cause that you will have lot of struggle with traction with sinking of truck ( trailer 3axle drawbar with super single tires 365mm wide and 18t per axle (40000lbs per axle)

that makes you to apply full power in low gears and be aggressive even with best driver that sometimes result with some brakedowns

    ........

with low weight you cant have lot of power on driveline there is no strain ....

he says to me that he once exchange v8 engine for v10 and leave same gearbox on other truck and that resulted with lot of brakedowns of gearbox

    especially input shaft

once again scania prove itself as very economic truck

here one newspaper organize fuel economy tests on one route

    best until now is scania

this is highway route over hills with hills with 6 and 8 %

    160km in one direction

trucks were same weight in both direction

    Actros 1841 35.8L (with 36.3t)
    MAN TGX 440 35,9L (with 38 t)

Stralis 450, Renault Premium 450 and DAF 460 from 34,0 to 35,7L ( daf had 1.5t less weight than Renaulta i Iveco).

scania r500 v8 40t 33,4L NOW IN WINTER TIME SNOW.... WHEN I TOOK FUEL CONSUMPTION 1.5-2l HIGHER!!!!

all others were tested during dry season

and now scania introduced selfsteerable drive axle like mercedes have

( that is done via new V arm which hold axle behind of its centerline) that will improve handling ......

I also don't like too much polished parts or other useles parts like those tubes everywhere for no reason. I just liked the painting of this Scania and no polished parts but those glass fibre shapes are too much for working truck. Danish truckers were the pioneers of clean looking trucks, dutch and others just try to copy them.

i like swiss trucks they are always bright colors good contrast and always light alloy wheels i dont know how they have will to polish them since they have lot of salt on roads

i like trucks from norway they always put lot of serial equipment and simple look

German Trucker-magazine made a comparison test between Volvo 750 and Scania 730 and, as expected, Scania won every performance test made between 2 and also used less fuel. Volvo has the numbers, Scania has the power!
