C 15 harmonic balancer

    Went to look at a truck this weekend and the harmonic balance was shaking pretty bad, so much tho that you could feel it coming thru the pedal and the belt looked like it was going to fly off. My ? is what does this cost to fix and could there be something more than the balancer or any long term damage. O and its an 07 c15 430k

    i talked to the shop there, they are going to replace the harmonic balancer. if that doesn't fix the problem should i waste my time going to look at it again?

    I would stay well away from it, you dont know how long its been like that for, if the previous owner has been driving around like that for a while the bearings and possibly the crank could be shot from the vibration. C15s have solid (appearing) balancers not the rubber type, if the balancer can be seen visibly shaking it can only be a few things, crank broken, balancer bolts loose, the balancer has been through an accident and is bent or someone has fitted a 3406B style rubber ring balancer. I would say its unlikely to be a thrust washer issue, I have never seen a C15 thrust bearing failure but that doesnt mean its not possible.
