I need some help understanding what happened to me today....just hang on and read...LOL
My hometime is scheduled for this Tuesday......on Thursday (when I was in Indianapolis and headed for Charlotte, NC) I was planned on a load that picked up on Friday and delivered on Sunday in the Baltimore area.......I informed FM that my student and I only had 28hrs available and would have to sit for 34 come Sunday night (out of hours until Tuesday) and would be happy if I could manage to take my 34 closer to home (Joplin, MO)......Friday morning he took me off that load and then gave me a load from Columbia, SC to Ellenwood.
I informed dispatch (wasn't my FM, he was busy that day doing training) that after reaching Ellenwood I would be down to about 14 hrs.......Get to Ellenwood and get a load from Atlanta to St. Louis (picking up at noon on Sunday and delivering from 0900 on Monday to 0200 on Tuesday).....I again informed dispatch that I would be out of hours on Sunday, accepted the load because we aren't allowed to refuse.......and then he yells at me for accepting the load when I didn't have the hours to service.
I told him "We are not allowed to refuse, I have informed for the past 3 days that I would be out of hours on Sunday night, I have been told before to take a load and it would be repowered." My FM (who was working today) then tells me that he doesn't work that way and I need to keep him informed every step of the way on a load because he had planned this out to get me home.
Where did I go wrong????
So now the plan is to run the load to St. Louis tomorrow (hoping we get to within 10 miles of delivery since that is the only place close enough)....sit until midnight on Monday when we get 9 hours back and then deliver by 0130 Tuesday.

To be honest it really sounds like the norm of no one really listened to you when you told them about your HOS. Sounds sort of like not much has changed after the re-org that they had to clean things up.
-
The situation has been resolved.....our preloaded was actually a live load so that gave us an extra 2.5 hrs.....made it to Mt. Vernon last night and now we are about 90 miles out and will be able to deliver on time.

Wow...who's your FM? Kinda sounds like the situation my wife and I were just in!

Same thing happened to us last week (I'm teaming now). I hit Decline on the pre-assign. Does anyone know why that button is there?
They told me we would be repowered. My co-driver runs out of hours. I ask if we will be repowered. The response is "What?" Seriously. -
Question: Are they really that strict about you being on duty while training?
Seems to me that with two people running solo you should have plenty of hours for emergencies. -
The first 75 hours we are on the same 14hr clock.....my student just hit 60 somthing today.
Trstanich Thanks this. -
Our old fleet manager kept track of our available hours, our new one does not. She informed us that we needed to keep her updated. No problem as long as you know what they expect.

Sorry it took so long to get back. We have been running pretty much non-stop.
I know you are supposed to be on the same clock. My question was are they really that strict about it? In other words, will you get in trouble with the company if you don't stay on duty for that time? -
I have no idea, but it is my job to work will she does, and I have no intentions of trying to find out what could happen if I didn't.
