    Red Hot Mess,
Turn the CB off,( but not before you have the last word ;-))!!! If those guys/gals were in such a hurry, they would help you out instead of yappin on the CB.
DO NOT be afraid to ask someone to SPOT you while backing in. PRIDE ISN'T ALWAY THE ANSWER
If they have their head lights on and they distract you ask them to turn off either in person or over the CB.
We all have been rookies at one time.

Oh, and BTW if you haven't already noticed, some of the comments are just like being on the CB, BLOW IT OFF.
    DNA! DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE....:biggrin_25513:

Ahhhh, NO POUNDING EITHER. It really doesn't take long to wake someone up. Knock, tap on the bunk by the head, my personal favorite.... fingernail tapping, works every time. If none of these work, rock the truck, they will be out in a hurry. If they are blocking you, chances are, they had NO intention of being there when you awoke and were ready to leave. If you have been trucking for a reasonable amount of time, you have been that tired at some point too. Just remember, we ( you or I) have NO IDEA what kind of day/night that driver had before they parked there. So, before you assume he/ she is a discourtious or sh** for brains kind of driver, keep that in mind. Just sayin.....

    I like this,

    walk a mile scratch that

Drive a mile in that drivers seat..........

Offer respect but dont EXPECT it yourself. Seems to make life a bit easier to deal with.

Remember: before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.

That way you're a mile away, and you've got their shoes.

I don't have a CB yet, just using it as an example. Something I learned here was to turn that dang thing off when you don't absolutely need it anyway.
I really haven't had to ask for help. Some of the nicest drivers offer to help me when they see me get out and look. But, although the help is nice, I still need to learn to do it on my own and the more I accept the help the more I feel like I might never learn it on my own.
I will get better and more confident as time goes by but for now I will take as long as I want, get out as many times as I want, and I don't care who thinks I'm a dummy. At least I'm not ripping off mirrors or dragging boulders down the street.

accepting that help can translate in you looking at how things are oriented, tandem position etc.. It also gives the opportunity to get some questions answered that may come up.

Red Hot Mess and Higgy Thank this.

...as this thread races blisteringly fast towards extinction I just wanted to say that there is a monstrous difference between a " real bonefied trucker " and a "rookie."

Kinda like how Ricky Skaggs says "Don't Get Above Your Raising."

I guess that is why it is best to take ONES time, park wehere it's safe, and go through the work day seeming like YA know whats going on.

I was never a rookie. I was born knowing everything. So, if any of you people have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
