So, when comparing a new bearing to a blue'd bearing (we need a micro scope) we will reduce friction there by reducing heat and seeing better MPG.
We are forgetting one VERY important step in the process. We have also taken old bearings out that will have friction causing blemishes that can be seen with the naked eye.
So if a new bearing has a friction rating of 10 and Blue'd bearings are at 1 (arbitrary numbers) and the old bearings are at 100 or greater. Then wouldn't most of the improvements come from just changing bearings alone?Elvenhome21 Thanks this. -
Good point!
I was also wondering since the bearings look so bad under a microscope that the crank probably looks the same? Would you have to worry about it tearing the microblue stuff off the bearing and causing a problem...
Wonder if anyone has done this and then after a few months took a microblue bearing out to see what it looks like? -
Exactly. Inherent gains since the part is new, regardless microblue or not.

In my experience new engine bearings have more friction at first because of tighter clearances. They loosen up after break in.

We pulled the rear ends out of my truck after a little over 14,000 miles to inspect them and they looked just like they did when we put them in there.

I know 14,000 miles is not many miles, but it still shows the microblue is still there and working as it was suppose to. This picture was taken back in September and my truck with a few more MicroBlue add ons is getting even better mileage now than back then even with winter blend fuel and winter weather. -
I was more concerned with the main/rod bearings.

I see the advantages of the process and many of the other things about there. There is a car hauler/flatbed guy that lives near me and this gentleman has been tinkering with rides all his life. His truck has had many mods and he has enlightened me a great deal. He keeps accurate record of his fuel mileage, and thus is with an older truck. Mind you this guys truck is heavily modified but I have seen first hand the advantages.
Thanks for the post. Some guys will never believe you or see the advantages (and may have valid points) but PLENTY OF US WANTS TO HEAR IT. I for one will never fault a guy for trying. -
Will take pictures of them next time I take them out, please have patience because it might be a few years.
I wish I had a better answer for you than that. Call Microblue direct and maybe they can give you what you are looking for.Last edited: Feb 4, 2012

What!?!?! It's only like a 5 minute job to take them out just to take a picture for me......
