Hi members, admin & contributors,
I'm David, in Tampa, 50y/o, been self-employed most of my working life. Had to close my guitar shop and get a job due to the current economic conditions. Decided that driving would provide some sense of autonomy and independence. And I can drive for another 20 years, until I can retire. I'm an alumnus of USF, B.A., Political Science, so I might one-day be qualified to drive a truck.I've done a lot of research so I feel as prepared as I can be, knowing that I must find a company that suits me and hoping it doesn't become too much trouble. My biggest concern is safety. No job is worth my life or quality thereof, much less taking somebody else's. I do hope to make some friends in the industry and would like to network with those like minded people. I'll think of more after I post this.

BTW: I'm scheduled to start at Roadmaster (school) soon. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The recruiter tells me to expect $350/wk while riding once I start working, $30K first year, and $70 by year 3. Please advise. He advised me to avoid flat-bed but not much else.

David,
Welcome here.
I'm unable to advise about schools whether RoadMaster or otherwise. I learned riding on a case of oil for quite a while in what was s'posed to be the passenger seat. After a while I graduated up to an actual seat and did the switch seats going down the road...so I'm not the one to tell you about being safe either.
But not to worry...that was 40 years ago and I don't do that anymore. I actually wear a seatbelt now, put away my cellphone, drive 2 miles under the posted speed limit & observe all rules & regulations of the highway. And I always tell the truth. I'm a truckdriver by classification and truckers don't lie.
Lotsa info around here. Some will make you grin and some will get your face red. But after you figure out where to file that info, you'll get a lot of good info to use in your journey. -
Welcome to TTR brother! I'm just learning to play the guitar myself. She's a great and powerful machine!
