1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. I have over 13 years over the road, got hurt and have been on workers comp.for almost 2 years.

Doctor gave me the final OK to go back to work with a clean bill of health.

The problem now is I have contacted several company's and they tell me to come back after you have a year OTR.I guess the last 12 that I did before I got hurt don't count.

I really don't want to buy a truck if I don't have to but it looks like thats the only way.And then who knows if thats going to help.

Does anyone have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

I hurt my shoulder 2+ yrs ago but continued working after MRI, cortisone shots, and anti-inflam pills thru Workman's Comp---never lost any work time. But this should be on 'my DAC' and if I quit, I may have a similar problem do to 'liability and the new co. having to pay Workman's Comp in the future for a similar injury!! It may NOT just be being away for all those years----if you could past a 'driving test' at the hiring co. then otherwise should be no problem---right?? May NOT be so because of the possble liability they may see you as???:biggrin_25524:

The thing is there will be no liability for the new company because I wouldn't sign off on that so the company that I worked for is on the hook for the rest of my life......

    2 Surgery's and over 12 months of therapy(on the shoulder)...HA.. HA....

Almost tore every ligament and tendon in the shoulder.

    Got a nice check though$$$$$$$$$$$

Might just end up buying a truck.

Does the shoulder keep you from doing anything? I still take anti-inflam pills (Naproxen) everday or it will act up---no surgery, just some minimal damage hard to see with MRI! Do you think that you can do the reg job (cranking landing gear, messing with air hoses, closing trlr doors, etc--how I hurt mine--doors!)??? :biggrin_25521:

I don't take anything for it,it still bothers me but thats a part of life.

I don't think it will have a detrimental effect on the day to day of trucking.

I just hate going thought the process of looking for a job.

    Specially being out this long.

..I know, Bro! BTW, try the daily 200 mg Naproxen---does wonders for me plus any 'other old injuries' you might have that bother you takes care of!

Try an local stuff? Course many of those are driver touch freight--I dont do anymore cause dont want to end up hurting shoulder worse and being cripple!! :biggrin_2557:

If your 'confident' in your shoulder to do the job ('no touch' of course), maybe getting your own truck is the thing to do!! If I wasnt so close to retirement, I would consider getting my own rig...:biggrin_2556:

I have a brother inlaw in Los Angeles,Cal with this same problem. It seems if you are hurt you are supposed to pay for it yourself. If you collect insurance or workmans comp it is a job block.
