You can attack posts, not call the poster a name.

If you really think about this, most of the larger companies get huge discounts at these truckstops.

In Bloomington IL, there is a .26 difference in diesel between a truck stop and the Murphy's across the interstate at the Walmart.

I still couldnt complain if they did charge for parking. I mean think about it, now more then ever we have fridges, coolers, grills and everything else to be self sufficent to where we can live out of our trucks. Maintaining the parking lots is expensive and last I checked there is no law stating they HAVE to provide parking! It tickles me reading these posts and people think they are "entitled" to FREE parking. Nothing burns me up faster then buying my fuel at TA or petro and the parking lot is jammed full with the "big" companies trucks that only fuel at Pilot or Loves and dont spend a dime with the TA'S or Petro's! Even worse are the "big" companies drivers who bobtail to the truckstop and take up a full spot!! What needs to be done?? I dont know but ill gladly pay $10 a night or even better I'd be up for a monthly "membership" that comes out cheaper then $10 a night for the PRIVELAGE to park at a TA or Petro because I REFUSE to park at a Pilot/Flying J or Loves or even Wal-Mart.

guess this is why i stay in the political section...don't have to deal with the faint of heart...

btw genius the topic is paying for a parking spot.tell me what you would like to pay everytime you stop?10,15,25$?"i know you would like to just keep comparing apples to oranges,by saying these larger companies get discounts but guess what it would be us the drivers that would have to pay out of our pockets to park.not the companies".so why stop there im sure we can find even more ways to rape the drivers wallet..as if we don't already pay 5 times the normal price for something at the ts anyways.

are you sure your a driver?it's people like the ones in this thread that get the gov and companies to make things harder and harder to operate each year..so i think you deserve a big hand.:biggrin_25514:....

i say f it let the W/S charge us everytime we pass by the scales.rest areas should have a toll booth too.....

noone said anything about being entitled.but if im an o/o and i spend tons of my money on fuel every year at a certain ts,i don't think it should matter to them when and where i park at their ts.

but i agree i think everyone should have to pay atleast 25$ each and every time they pull in.even if they are fueling i think a 25$ service fee per person would be the lest we could do for letting us buy their fuel.

i also think they don't charge enough for showers.i think they should do away with free showers when you fuel up. after all we should be thankful they even let us pay to dollar to buy their fuel.i think 20$ per shower is'nt really enough but it atleast shows we care.because we truckers make way to much money as it is so we need to start finding ways to spend it.

    #### the family back at home, they get enough bread and water as it is,we need to focus on stuffing as much money in the pockets of these poor to do T/S owners. i don't know about you, but my main goal being out here on the road away from my life and family is not to better my family.but rather to find ways to give my give my money away to the trucking companies and fuel stops....

btw say we all bought this "membership"@ 10$ a night.wait i highly doubt you even know how it would have to work.here i'll explain to the not so bright people out in the world, not on here because on the board we know how smart and great everyone is.so this is'nt for anyone of the great ones on the board.if one pays for a membership the business has to provide said service.so hey smart guy,say YOU bought this membership@ 10$ per nite or 300 per month.

are you going to be fine when you go to pull in for the nite and every space in the joint is taken?you should be right?you're out of hours and already paid your membership up for the month as you should.but there is no parking left.where are you going to go big shot?what about places way out in bfe where there are no other stops?gunna pay another 10 to park on top of the 10 you already paid on your membership?no wait you have so much money you by all memberships to all the diffrent ts's?so about 1200 a month so you can make sure you have a spot to park.nice.on top of 20$ showers so you would be up to 1220 a month.you have alot of extra cash huh.

again the dumb runs deep in america these days...have fun in the great times ahead...

we could give the truck stops our whole pay check each week and it would still be no better than they are now.all that money would go to the top dogs in the company and they would'nt blink an eye...

Reading comprehension is not your strong point, is it? I recall saying I don't know what should be done BUT at the rate everything is going with drivers being self sufficent, including myself, what incentive will the truck stops have to even provide parking?? No one would pay $300 a month for parking for the reason you stated, but what if for $20 or $25 a month parking would be free with a fuel purchase or a restaurant purchase of any $$$ amount, instead of having a mininum of $20 purchase for free parking. That would cut down on people just parking and not spending any money.

As far as your little sarcastic posts, well you think you are smart and clever but really trying to have a convo with someone like you about this is useless for the simple fact of you have nothing to contribute other then "I can park when ever and where ever I please for free just because" all the while failing to realize unless they find a way to make $$$ they have ZERO incentive to provide parking or even showers. Truckstops arent charities, they are in it to make money. For you to just take off with the idea of charging $20 showers, $25 service fee per person to buy fuel, and neglecting the wife and kids, is childish!! Im out here to make $$$ also, but I also realize truck stops are providing a service, a service I need, do I like the fact they charge more then a regular store?? Nope I don't, do I appreciate being able to park, shower, and have a restaurant, yes I do. I love the free parking, but I can also understand if they started charging and would chalk it up as another expense of doing business.

You know nothing about me, there I changed it, does it make you feel better now?? Ive been a member here for a little over 3 years now, people like you always find a way to post but offer no insight or anything intelligent to a conversation. Even IF I was a student, what would that have mattered?? Oh please forgive me "Big Bad Trucker of Great Knowledge" since you feel so inclined to offer free parking, please open a truckstop, put a couple fuel pumps in and pave a parking lot with 200 spaces and see if its even worth maintaining it, without raising prices in the truckstop or charging for parking.
