Hey Pete people...I know about these heater & A/C control do-hickies under the dash that control the direction of the hot air, etc...you already know what I'm talking about. Somebody called em "pianos" I guess because they look like the top of a baby grand. I'm not sure the official name...it's the electronic control for the deflector doors I think. All the Pete's I've owned, I have never had to replace one and I'm told they are very weak items and go bad all the time. I think it's finally my turn. Bunk heat is not producing and I have been hearing a slight "creaking" under the dash (lower center right) as the door operates when temp is adjusted or control switch position is changed.

Tell me which one is bad if it don't send heat to the sleeper? I hear there are 2 or maybe 3 total in the system?

    Thanks.

My 379 is probably way older than yours (1990), But my bunk has its own hvac unit in the right side box. It has seperate water lines going to it off the motor, and isn't controlled by anything under the dash, that stuff is just for the cab.

My bunk's the same way. Got its own system but it seems there is something other than the manual shut off valves keeping it from circulating. I thought maybe Pete might have used one in the bunk system.

Does the fan in the bunk work? Feel the hoses going back to the bunk, if the're not getting hot than you either have one of the valves closed, or a restriction in the bunk unit somewhere. There shouldn't be any blend doors in the bunk.

Yep...fan works fine. Past week it didn't blow warm in the bunk. Works fine up front. I had opened the valves a few weeks ago and it has been blowing warm up til last week.

Are you sure you didn't accidently hit any of the control switches in the bunk? I know in mine I have a toggle switch for heat and ac, and then a little themostat control for the temp. Maybe one of those switches is bad.

Same in my '07. Front & back units work together though even if they are located apart. Summer...all I ever had to do was set the bunk A/C on low and toggle the rear switch on the dash. Even with fan off up front it still blew through the vents up front.

The deflectors are called "blend doors".

I've been running without bunk heat for 5 years now... I have been using the ESPAR to keep it warm back there but I guess this is the year for a new $500.00 heater core....

The two heater systems only share a couple of items. Those items would be the AC lines and one circuit that connects them. This circuit is used when the cab blower motor is shut of and the bunk blower motor is activated. No matter if the bunk is on AC or heat it will activate the cab system to whatever the cab is set on...kind of a stupid setup, but it is what it is. As for your problem, I would check what the others have mentioned (the lines for flow and the switch positions. The noise you hear under that dash will not affect anything with the bunk heat/AC. My guessis if the fan is blowing enough air then the heater lines are either shut off or plugged.
