I don't know what the "average" is, but I have been paid $4k for a single car from Detroit to SanFrancisco, hauled IN a 53' van, then $1600 for a car from Santa Rosa to SLC (in the same 53' van)

Instead of asking OTHERS to do your work for you, and keeping the fruits of their work for yourself; why don't you ask specific questions here in this thread, so a discussion can be started and others with similar interests can benefit as well.

Like with any gig any thing can be good and any thing can be bad.

Some days you are the bug, some days you are the windshield.

There are two great car haulers in maine that I know of,Bills is in Greene maine, they drive 150,000 dollar petes all decked out with 55o cats big gears, and run really fast, all the lights and whistles. The pay is about 25% of the gross,my son drove for Bills for about a year. Each car pays different but you get like ltl freight rates,if you are loaded from maine to florida, drivers pay could gross you 1200 down and if loaded back 12oo up,thats a gross of 2400.00,not even owning your truck, just driving it. The trucks are all red petes. Then there is Crafts auto haul, they have gray petes, not as pretty as Bills, but the pay and power is about the same. My son liked it but likes flatbedding better. He works as a company driver for Pep,EJ Presscott in Gardiner Maine. He makes around 50 a mile, great pay,hub miles, pay to strap and tarp, drop and hook,160.00 holiday and vacation pay per day, sick days,!50.00 for lifetime uniforms if you want them, reinbursed for safety shoes of over a hundred dollars. You work there but money and bennies are great and home almost every weekend if you want to be.Bills does train the car haulers if he likes you, but, you do need driving experience.Pep wil hire you out of school, and, folks like my son will train you on the rest of the knowledge needed in flatbedding. Good luck to you.
