I certainly don't "have everything figured out and know it all anyway", but I am able to recognize a "certification" of questionable value when I see one.

As I said, not a single potential employer has even mentioned PTDI, I should think that if it were valuable AT LEAST ONE of them would have brought it up. None did. So, in reality it seems to not mean much.

But, if you are talking with employers who require a PTDI certified course or even if attending one will just make you feel better, then I encourage you to do so.

While I don't believe in luck, I appreciate the sentiment behind your "GL to you" statement.

I wish you well and hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

BTW, I wasn't suggesting that the PTDI "keep track of each schools trucks condition for them", what I was suggesting is that a "certification program" for a skilled trade SHOULD be concerned with the quality of the equipment used to train in that trade. After all, it's very hard to provide superior instruction with "inferior equipment". Thus a program that is really interested in the QUALITY of training, SHOULD consider the equipment used in that training.

Try as you might to insult me just because I disagree with you, I'm not insulted.

I'm not insulted because I know that I don't "have everything figured out and know it all anyway" and I know that your statement that "ANYONE's advice or suggestions don't hold much merit" to me is blatantly false.

In fact, I based many of my decisions about school and potential employers from the "advice and suggestions" of others, many here on this site. And I'm thankful for all of that advice and those suggestions.

Having spent more than a couple of decades in a industry where there are tons of "certifications" I've come to look beyond the marketing of such certification programs and actually look into how meaningful they are in their industry.

So, based on the following, I've determined that attending a PTDI certified course holds little weight when it comes to actually getting a job with a good company and actually realizing success in the industry:

    1) My own personal research
    2) Opinions of others on this and other sites
    3) The fact that no employers inquired as to whether my course was PTDI-certified

One other thing, our course used PTDI produced videos and a PTDI textbook.

So, I'm not saying that PTDI itself has no value. I'm saying that the PTDI course certification seems to have questionable value in the industry.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

    Gryphon,

Congrats on your license and all the endorsements.

Now that you are out of school, how do you rate it? You also mentioned before that you couldn't say where you went, can you disclose it now? Where are you working and what are you earning? If you can tell us, it might help someone make up their mind too.

I have my CDL A Permit and all the endorsements you mentioned also. And my fingerprints cleared and I have my DOT physical card too. I start school on March 19th. I am attending Mesa Community College in Grand Junction. Sounds similar to your training, being 3+ weeks and they too do their own testing for the state and supply the truck then you go to the DMV to get actual license issued.

Again, congrats and any info you can disclose will be appreciated.
