Oshkosh were manufactured in South Africa during the 70's and 80's they were distributed by Caterpillar dealers.
They were very basic reliable trucks but not known for driver comfort.
There are still a few on the road.
Western Star is distributed here by Liebherr , the German crane and earth moving equipment supplier.

thanks mate yep the oshkosh here on logs was ex aussie millitry one as were e few doing linehaul work think they all 8-71 detroits could be wrong but logger was ,yes very uncomfortable driving but strong like old t line inters,even remember persplex door windows dont no if that standard tho.thanks for your reply.oh didnt no about liebherr but western star over here has just taken a big (to us)fleet renewal off kenworth 185 units all up

This is a great site known for providing a wealth of information on many topics . It got that way by many members going out of there way to provide answers for requested info even though they might not have any personal reason to research that info .
