    JIMS2006C6 Thanks this.
  4. Just before I left for the first time in august I was diagnosed with chrone's and given a grave prognosis. I waited for six ############# days in the Midwest for a load following major truck repair before finally giving up and taking a bus home. I spent a combined total of three weeks sitting in a hotel ######## out my insides and wishing I was home. To make matters worse I was forced to take a ton of advances and never got an accurate talley of the money I worked for. It's four months later and I'm essentialy dying and crst still wants their moolah so I'm headed back soon. Laugh to keep from crying driver, that's the best advice I can give you

First of all it's spelled Crohn's. Not busting on your ability to spell or type, just thought someone who's dying of it, might want to know how to spell it.

But you knew you had this diagnosis and still thought this was the right career choice. And then expect the company to jump through hoops to get you home. Do you have any idea how many times a day they hear "I'm sick, I have to get home" from drivers.

I'm not a CRST fan believe me and don't tell me I don't know what they're like, because I do, and I know some will say I don't have any compassion for people.

But why go out on a truck knowing that your sick and will need medical care and then expect the company to spend money to retrieve their truck.

I'm sorry that your sick, I know Crohn's is a very serious disease. I have a very good friend that was diagnosed with this several years ago, and with proper treatment and diet has been able to lead a very normal life. I hope that you will be able to also.

  6. Okay, first of all I obviously had no idea I had this disease until after i had been with the company for four months. My symptoms were very mild and is just assumed it was ibs or something like that. Ibs symtoms can be pretty violent too but whatever, the point is I had mo idea. It was actually discovered after I went and saw a doctor a thousand miles from home while my truck was in the shop. Second, I was being slightly sarcastic about "dying". Granted, it probably will kill me eventually, but obviously if I'm well enough to go back ill probably be okay for the duration of my contract. Then again maybe not. Who knows. ibd is a hell of a thing that way. There are a million and one ohter reasons I could cite as to why crst is an awful company, but instead I chose to tell a personal story and empathize with op. Spelling was never my strongest suit. And neither was grammar. Or punctuation. That's why I'm truck driver, driver.

A person that is this sick should not be out there on the road. You can really get hurt if something goes wrong with your health issue. You also work for crst and crst is their own. You know? Crst belongs to crst, you have to do what's best for you. I don't say any of this in a negative way. But, if your health is at risk, don't do it.

  9. But really I feel like "sick" is so subjective that who's to say one way or the other. When I got my cdl I had undergo testing for my med card. I was obviosuly well enough to receive that. In addition, I also had my own physical done by my md, complete with full scale blood work that came back 100 percent healthy. The symptoms of ibs and ibd are so similar its virtually impossible to distinguish between the two sometimes. And there are more than a few truckers out there with ibs. Hell, they've even got their own support groups. Not to mention truckers with sleep apneia, truckers on various meds for blood pressure, high colesterol, so and and so forth. All I'm saying is I never though that anything I was going through health wise was going to limit me from being able to drive, and if I did or had known there's no way i'd be out there
