What licenses do you hold in the military. I was able to convert mine over to a civilian license. I am assuming yo are air force aka chair force lol. I was nave for 11 years and then converted to army foe the last 3. I drove 915 and HET in Iraq so with the exception of learning the shift pattern and the DOT rules I can drive big, long, and heavy loads. I know that i will still need to learn alot but who doesnt I figure that the day that i think i have learned everything will be the day that I die or kill someone else in an accident. I ETS in June but will start working in April. I have some leave saved up. Good luck to Ya let me know where you end up at we could meet up at a TS sometime. -
There are only a few states that will convert a DA348 into a civilian license,i know RI does and i think Fl.
-
Yeah , a company I worked for hired a RI reservist who converted his military DA348 to a CDL A . He didn't even know how to hook up gladhands . He hadn't driven truck in the military . A friend in the reserve unit with the authority just gave him the license .
-
Would that be the slap-stick in the 920's?
-
I don't understand why any company needs to understand the military's way of driving. Most will consider that military driving is in tactical trucks and mostly on base or in convoys. Don't see many of them going down the road. You just can not give a blanket exception to a person who's been in the service without the proof that is comparable. I'm afraid most will need to go through the ropes just like everyone else. If you find an advantage that fits your needs by all means take it but you're just like anyone else that needs to learn all you can about the industry.

I had a similar laundry list of vehicles and equipment on my Army certification. That list and a buck will get you a cup of coffee at McDonald's.
Skip1965 Thanks this. -
jeep383s asked, i replied.
Good to know i can take my list and a buck and go to McDonalds and get a cup off coffee!

Crete has a program for vets that drove truck in the military, they have a flatbed division that you may want to look into.
