how do they determine you fail sleep test??
i also took 500$ bonus instead of d/h over 500 miles free to get home!!
i use farm fence pliers with strength no greater of a pee-wee herman to cut cables ..smaller tool to carry also!!

The policy must be a JBS policy because it is NOT a federal policy YET!!! They are talking about a BMI of 35 but haven't got there yet. Sounds like JBS is trying to do everything they can to fly under the radar and am not sure they are helping their cause. Will probably delete fox's phone # from my files, cause he sure won't be getting a recruiting bonus from me, with the way they are going. Sorry fox.

 

The JBS Sleep Apnea Policy is from the Corporate office not even from the Safety department, Some corporate desk jockey is using the words "Pro Active" which is BS as we all know it.

Per Randy K in Safety the JBS DOT Medical Examiner ( he is not even a PHD) makes the suggestion that the driver should have his/her Personal Doctor determine if the driver should have a Apnea test done. HE explained this to the Directors 2 weeks before Christmas after losing more drivers to this BS.
Simply goto your Doctor have them evaluate you as to wether or not you need to have a Sleep Test done. If they determine You DO NOT have them put this in writing and send to the Safety Department as well as your Fleet Manager, the Fleet Manager Supervisor. And then go from there according to Safety IF your Doctor Determines you do not NEED the waste of money test, they are suppose to clear you to go get a NEW DOT MEDICAL Card. If you have continued problems with the Safety Department then you need to Immediately go to THE Head of HR not the Ladies in there but Dennis K.
There have been several people who have left over this BS Policy one of which is a Very Close friend of mine, I have taken a huge issue with this whole Sleep Apnea crap.
According to the FMCSA they have tabled the issue for 10 YEARS due to Doctors not being able to agree on a SET Standard for the control or basically not agreeing on the BMI and what are acceptable numbers.

 

Well it looks like I'm too late. I had the retarded sleep test done on dec 19th. I was tested positive according to them I have this retarded sleep disorder. And now I can't drive a cmv because as of dec 27 my medical is expired. So even if I leave I have a jbs truck and trailer sitting in my front yard. As I won't be able to drive. The "ladies" in hour say I now have to get the machine and show 2 weeks of compliance before I'm allowed to drive at jbs. So now in the meantime I'm not making money. So life really sucks major ### right now.

 

I have even emailed darrin, and as of right now i got nothing in response. even if i was to leave and go to another company that wont test for this big waste of time sleep disorder. i now cant get the jbs truck and trailer back to them. so i really dont know what to do now...oh well. i guess worse case i will try and email that dennis k person and see what hes got to say. i just dont know what else i can do at this point. other then thanks to the people at jbs and the government i may have to go and apply to state welfare, thats the pits as im more then capable of working im just not allowed to...

 

There are carriers who will work with you if you have diagnosed sleep apnea. Go find one.

Meantime, a medical doctor hasn't put pen to paper recording this condition as being present in your health, yes? Then you don't officially have it. Go get another medical card, and get busy somewhere else - there's nothing in the regulations that say they can't give you a 60 or 90-day card while you build-up the history of use. If you do have the condition, its real, and from folks I know who do have it claim that using a CPAP machine will make your life much better. You don't need to waste any more of your life with a carrier that pulls this kind of Bravo Sierra on a good driver just to cover their weak corporate heiny.

 

I happen to fully agree with you here. no theres nothing stopping me from going else where. and yes i agree if i could get a long form physical form from somewhere then i could go to a doctor and be done with all this non sense. but i dont think one jbs will approve that move, and if i go with another carrier, i have there truck and trailer sitting in my front yard here at home.

 

My regular DM is off today so that means I have lost all communication with JBS. I got a preplan and sent in for my fuel plan without a reply. I then sent in a freeform message and left a voice message. Been over 3 hrs without a reply. Every job at this company is about moving freight via the truck and DRIVER. Why won't they communicate with the driver? Good thing I don't have an emergency. I generally don't need to talk with the company much. Give me all of my info...preplan, fuel route, address and PU/delivery time and I can get it done alone. But when you leave out part of what I need and then won't answer the multiple requests via multiple different ways.... well, simply amazing!!

 

I hope you aren't waiting for the fuel solution before you start your deadhead, just roll on driva!
