Hello everyone, I have just finished my first week with C1 in Fort Wayne, IN. It has been a mixed bag of feelings for the place this far. So I figured I would talk a little about them, on here to get them off my chest...

    Sunday night:
First off day one, arrived at the hotel with very low standards in mind. Pulling in there at 10:30 pm, and seeing a ghetto looking hotel that you'll be staying in, leaves you with a sickening feeling. Well after checking in, and struggling to find my room "Very dard, and hard to see" I managed to get into my room. My first impression wasn't that bad. I've lived in worse... After being in the room for about a hour, I get a call from the front desk telling me my roommate has arrived. Nerves as hell, I waited expecting some big hill jack to come walking in. And well to my surprise, was a fellow Ohio man. He turned out to be a pretty cool guy. We talked about random crap we had heard from different people, about C1.

    Monday:
Day two was the first day of class. After filling out a books worth of paper work. We was all rounded up for physicals. Started off with a lady walking around taking everyones blood pressure, a few of the guys could stay calm, and had to keep retaking the tests "gave me a good laugh"... Then we went on to take a drug screen, then from there to a room with a 40 year old nurse who plays with your down stairs area. And that was about it. The head guy Jon, and the class instructor Ervin, talked with the class for a while before, and after the physicals. Two guys was sent home, one for not passing his drug screen, and the other for high blood pressure.

    Tuesday:
Day three we actually started learning somethings. We watched a few videos, on the projection screen, basically covering stuff that would be on the CDL permit test. A million breaks "Every 20 - 40 mins" We was all back out side for a smoke break."

    Wednesday:
Day four was test day, we all messed around for a few hours waiting on the BMV people to get there for testing. Then when they did we all buckled down, and took those darn test. To many of our surprises, a lot of the info we had been studying wasn't even on the test. I personally on the general knowledge test had about 20 questions that I never even heard of. Later that day we get our test result back "I passed!!!" we had two guys who failed. One actually failed the Indiana's operators test. How in the hell do you fail that? And why the hell would C1 still want to put this guy through school, and he can't even pass a test, that 16 years olds all over the state are passing everyday. We was then let out of class early to head up to the BMV, and get our permits, and temp IN licence.

    Thursday:
Day five was a drag learned about log books, and map trip, and some pre-trip. That was about it

    Friday:
Day six Did a lot of nothing all day, then went out to the range for a walk around. Got to climb into a truck for the first time, the class instructor showed us the 4 point break check, and tug test. We was then set free for the weekend. Don't have to be back until Tuesday. Then all the fun begins :D

So anyways I'm being picked up by USA Truck, I think there is only three of us left in my class, who are still going to them. Anyone recently start out with them? Would love to know how things are going. I'll be sure to post my next weeks experience, after it is all over with.

You may feel that logbook training and pretrip inspection training was a "drag," but you'll find that training useful if and when you get out here... once you start coughing up some hard-earned money to D.O.T. revenue collectors, you'll wish you had paid more attention in the classroom. It's a whole new ballgame when you're out here behind the wheel... having said that, I'll wish you good luck in your endeavors, and watch those cones in your training course, 10? "Adios!"

On the days we learned about logbooks and pretrip, it wasn't that learning it was a drag. We probably only spent 20-30 mins on each. The rest of the time was just hanging out in the class room doing nothing. Thats what really made it a drag. Though hearing our class instructor tell us stories from on the road, was pretty fun :)

I am about to start trucking school, just looking at my job schedule and money before I take off for three weeks. They put me at C1 in Fort Wayne. So far what I have read has gave me mixed emotions.

I live in Fort Wayne. Was thinking about going to Sage In Indy!
What made you chose C1,,,Was it being paid for by your employer?
What is the actual cost of it? If I is the school I am thinking about, The motel is down a long stretch of road? In New Haven, it was a higher-class motel that was sold to a bunch of foreigners?

Do not worry, it is located about two blocks from Family Doughnuts, great place to get cheap breakfast lunch, opens at 5:30 AM.

Also do not pay attention to Infrared61ranger He is a Light Load Member. The space to post at this site is cheap.

None have you talked to SAGE already? they used to have one in Kendallville but closed it apparently. there is also one in Muncie.

C1 can be done independent or through Drivers Solutions apparently. they do not though have a price on their website. Drivers Solutions said the cost was something like 4 or 5 thousand if i remember the information they'd given me in the past.

One is a Van and one is a bus??? No joke, call them up.
This is why I am worried about different schools. Once you sign your name they won you and can take you for a ride,,, sort of speak,,,,,
