Have you gone out and gotten yourself an oilfield job yet jvar? Or are you holding out til someone gives you a job and a plane ticket based on your on-line application?
I see you keep nay-saying, but time and time again I am seeing inexperienced drivers show up at the oilfield and get good paying jobs...WHO KNOWS, jvar4001, Big Duker and 1 other person Thank this. -

is hiring in the oilfields mostly attributed to continuous expansion or driver turnover?
-
It's both really. The hole thing is a constant cycl of boom and bust. When it's good any idiot can come out here and make a good living and if you've got some capital and connections you can make a fortune. On the other hand the turnover during the booms is pretty. Most guys are to sensitive and lazy to work out here others won't drive the junkie trucks because they are trying to protect their licenses which is understandable.

Part of the reason drivers might be leaving could be what I am experiencing. Company hired me said that I would be working 4 days on 2 days off and if I wanted I could work the 5th day. Just a person can't go over 70 hours a week. I went to oil fields for to make as much money as possible. I have not as yet made the money they said and am paying for basically 2 households. My wife is in Florida. Also the company first 2 weeks didn't even pay me I had to ask and have pay sent late by them wired to my account and 2 weeks they didn't pay the amount of hours I worked. Not just me but other drivers and add it to the next weeks pay. I am not lazy and am don't mind working as many hours as they want to give any kind of equipment. Not to mention the amount of money it took for a hotel until I found a room mate and place to live. If you have family in Texas and a camper or something to live in or a good amount of money saved to use until you get situated its worth it. Or if your a single guy or gal it would work out ok. Just hasn't been the best situation for me as of yet.
jvar4001 and pathfinder1361 Thank this.
