Roehl Transport makes it into the BAD company forum

Good luck with this new tanker outfit. I've always been interested in driving tanker. Unfortunately, I never got around to trying it, although I started driving in 1971 (according to some). I was either in college or driving for a van outfit I was satisfied with (when I wasn't quitting a rotten company after only two days on the job).

I currently pull tanks for Tidewater Transit and by the end of the month I will be going with A&R Transport pulling bulk tanks.

I see a lot of those Superior Carriers guys and they all seem to be O.K. with the company. I don't really hear much good or bad about them.

10 -4 to that. I just got done with orientation. Roehl is Just Another Trucking Company (JATC). I think ROEHL distorts just as much as JB Hunt. But they pay 8-cents a mile less. All the drivers in the yard were complaining about crap miles. I don't know how they got such a good reputation.

My buddy started the end of July with them. He (like I am) is on the 7-3/4 program. His paychecks are averaging $607 a week. A high of a little over $800. A low of $380. The final straw was 1800 miles this past week. 36-hours of drive time. The rest of the time was setting at docks and truckstops. Missing Labor Day weekend for a $576 GROSS just isn't worth it.

I will give them a month. If I have the same crap pays, I will also be gone.

 

Miles are dropping and it's not even January. What gives?

Surely the shift to the rails hasn't happened yet. It's about two years too soon.

 

The companies have no expense when drivers set around. The financing big companies do for trucks is as a creative as stock market derivatives - someone else holds the bag! You can bet it isn't Rick Roehl's loot buying them red trucks!

Figure with ZERO variable costs (a stationary driver gets no bones) the trucking companies can just park and wait for decent freight. They look good to the customer because they are AVAILABLE. Who gives a crap about the driver? No one!

Also the Mexicans are coming - hide your women and children!!

The Mexican Assault will end when a few of them bandito's annihilate some Soccer Moms in Rancho Bernardo or Scottsdale. Crushing Shaunita and little Shaniqua on the Southside of Chicago won't do it. But if they mow down a Lexus LX carrying Meredith, Justin, and Justine it'll be MAM - Mother's Against Mexicans. The lawsuits will find the Deep Pockets in the good ol USA - not with Pedro and Julio

 

If you are on Evo III that long that means your are not doing your job right. It is no suprise you were not getting any miles. Roehl could not trust you to handle any tight loads. Maybe it isn't the company maybe it is you. As for freight being slow. B.S. Two weeks ago I had over 4000 miles in seven days. Last week over 3000 in six days and that included one day lost delivering to Long Island.

 

Jolly good Mr. SuperTrucker. Question is, if u r such a great trucker, why r u working with Roehl? No flat bedder worth his straps and chains would work for a training company. Right on thats what I was thinking.

Theres a bunch of good flatbed guys over there and after they know what you can do it becomes much more easy to make the miles. A new driver takes time to prove themself thats the same everywhere.

 

So why work for less? Roehl's pay is subpar, the benefits are overpriced, a spider web of strings for every stinking bonus, vesting for anything takes longer than the industry average. The final insult is they sell themselves a straight shooting company. Their 5-star pay program is a joke. It's more like 5-hoops.

As I previously posted - I could kick myself in the rear for sgining on with this smoke and mirrors organization.
