National Driver trying to go Hometime plus fleet

If you had a laptop or smart phone would you not be able to do the majority of this without taking time away from work?

 

Are you near one of our drop yards and or terminals ? If within 100 miles you can
Get on the hometime fleet. Otherwise you will have to go regional, and on regional
They try to get you home every weekend and you can do a reset. Why don't you talk
To your dsr and see if they will run you for 11 days and then home for 3days.

 

The lawyer doesn't call back because he's busy. That's the beauty of e-mail. If you e-mail he can reply @ his leisure and so can you. Can you have bills e-mailed to you OR have his mail forwarded to you or your brother.

Greetings Last over! Sorry to hear about your losses. I've had to deal with too many similar problems and I know where you're coming from on the estate settling side. Unfortunately a lot of it really deals with getting a hold of people on a weekday and waiting all day for them to hopefully get back to you before they go home. More often than not, they will need information from a document that you'll have to look for and if you're on the road, it ain't gonna be there.
I'm not yet a driver, more of a wannabe with application submitted, but I've done plenty of research on Roehl. If you were able to go regional, they have a 7/4, 7/3 program which allows them to use 3 drivers to drive 2 trucks. You have to slip seat with the 2 other drivers, but it seems like a well thought out plan for extended home time and it provides fluidity with your days off. The plan is drive 7 days, home 4, then drive 7 more days, home 3. This would allow you to get some of the weekdays off to get stuff done. Obviously, whether you can get on this program or not depends on whether there are any openings, but if you could get it it would work out a lot better than your 11/3. Hope this helps...

 

You can take a leave of absence for a period to get things taken care of. Not sure what if anything is near you as far as a dropyard. Try to talk your FM into bringing you home on a Monday. Do that for a couple weeks and you'll be fine. Good luck!

 

Well, you've gotten a chunk of advice, I'll go ahead and add what I can.

As far as you switching to a Hometime fleet, you have to have a dropyard in range of your home, they have to have a truck available, you'll lose your truck, and your FM with a switch. You're also likely to lose your FM with a switch to regional. I point this out, because if you feel that your FM has been helpful during this time, you may not want to lose that one. there are far worse ones out there, who don't have the same level of history with you.

So, that is the best advice I can give, regarding the question asked. Now, please allow me to digress a bit.

According to your profile, you're 21 years old. I don't know if your brother is older or younger, or even remotely in the same age category, I'm not allowed to assume such things. But, we can all agree that 21 is a bit young to have deal with such problems. Certainly, it happens. But we'd all rather you had to deal with this when you're 60.

Your father passed a month ago, and, God-willing, the funeral's been done by now. Oftentimes there's someone who doesn't get to grieve, because there's crap that needs to get done, paper that needs to be pushed, I's that need to be dotted, and T's that need to be crossed. If that's your role in this, I sympathize. You start feeling very put-upon, and everyone wants something done *now* But, here's the trick, they act that way because they're not in control.

You are. Once you passed the funeral, everything, outside of family, is on your time-table. Everything at this point, is about money, or property. Every telephone conversation you have should point out that you're a Truck Driver, and Over the Road, so if they need something done in person, it's gonna be a few weeks, if you can fax something, they can get it overnight. *you* set the pace. No one is going to get injured, or die in this process. Everyone else has a sense of immediacy that they try to infect you with, because they have no threats or response to. It suddenly because *your* world, and they're in it, for this brief amount of time.

I would like to hear some more about this part. From my limited understanding of Pensions, they would go to a spouse (possibly at a lower rate), but if there's isn't one, they're just gone. they don't go to children, siblings, or parents.
