You've got some great posts & a real go-getter!....but....
I want to point out trucking has changed a bunch in my 15 years. The laws have taken a lot of raggity heaps of unsafe junk off the road. The laws have taken those unprofessional hillbillies that would drive those accidents waiting to happen off the roads as well. Sure some of these guys could bump a dock, it was their poor habits & decisions from p/u to delivery.
Now the laws are beginning to focus on the root of the safety violators...management who promote & utilize unsafe equipment & habits.
CSA scores are a prime example the laws are working in the drivers favor. More & more drivers are empowered enough to stand up for their CDL & hold management accountable. These new factors coupled with heavy fines are beginning to give drivers the real title of "Professional" instead of just a catch phrase.
Many companies are now paying for quality professional drivers. When I began I was paid .27 pm. The driver rate has not increased in years. Including years before me. So consider in why the pm rate is going up. It is to hire & retain professional drivers....because the laws are making it more costly in being a "truck driving mill" opposed to keeping drivers like yourself...for the "long company haul."
You by all accounts appear to be professional, not just a whining steering wheel holder. Your work ethic appears to be very commendable. After only 3 years doing this gig you've got to understand only you will limit your income without compromising safety or your own health & well-being.
Wouldn't surprise me in a few years if your post were from the perspective of a small fleet O/O.
The deck is beginning to be stacked in your favor.
well they finally nailed me - forced into electronic logs

they'll do it like this, all trucks manufactured after whatever date, must be equipped with AOBR/EOBR. So it'll be a matter of time until everyone has one. I'm just saying, that's how I'd do it.Last edited: Dec 30, 2011

It's a little disconcerting to know there are drivers out there who publicly admit to falsifying logs to squeeze every penny from their employer... at least that's what I'm reading.

it will never happen the Supreme Court ruled the us governent could not require all truck to have them

The company i work for runs webtechs in all of our trucks, I particulary love them. and when it comes to getting in trouble ive been written up once and it was my fault you cant lie to gps. If your webtech decides not to play nice you simply go back to a paper log no questions asked right it up for the shop to fix. Ive only had one problem with the webtech and that was caused by loose connections to the battery no big deal other than remembering how to do a paper log. It may not be perfect for everyone but im paid by the hour so if theres ever a question a couple clicks on the computer show exactly where i was and what i was doing at the time, and hell of lot easier than counting little lines at the end of the day.mike

Maybe if more companies payed better, drivers wouldn't need to "squeeze every penny from the employer".
Your post makes it seem as if the drivers are being greedy; when in fact, 99.999% of the time, the company is paying a barely livable wage.
So yes, people falsify logbooks to increase their earning potential.ORT WIFE, snafu, Wiseguywireless and 4 others Thank this. -
That's what you think, why do you think mega carriers are doing it now?Its a system easier for companies to keep track on there trucks and so on,who knows what else e-logs can do.Its going to happen and its slowly happening now its not mandatory right now and may never be mandatory but you just back and watch,in about 5-10 years from now,I bet at lease 95% of trucks will have them.Just sit and wait and see.
-
90% of the companies with e-logs hire new drivers, and most of which hire IDIOT new drivers (werner) so the only way to not get shut down due to log violations is e-logs. the other 10% of companies that are going to them have LOG ISSUES = BAD CSA Score.
There is 1 big company looking to get RID of their E-Logs because their drivers are getting in more wrecks and getting more tickets due to haveing to race the clock all day.
With paper logs if i know from where i am to where i'm going is say 675 miles and i know at the speed limit it can be done legally in 11 hours or less. I can put down the interstate all day long and take 11+ hours to get there and still log it as 11.....so no need to due 62 in a 55 construction zone.
BUT with e-logs you will never get to see that truck stop because you wont make it there....and IF you do make it there you were speeding and driveing wrecklessly all day to make it happen.
