Hey Fellow Drivers,
I was recently employed with TCSI Transland out of Strafford, MO. I worked in their intermodal division, and I enjoyed my job. I met a lot of great people, and felt confident in my skills. On December 20, 2011, I was involved in a rear end accident. Due to a white, Ford Mustang slamming on their brakes and creating a chain reaction that caused a Mitsubishi Eclipse and a Short Bed Chevy Silverado behind it (including my truck) to also unexpectedly brake, I wrecked into the back of the Silverado. Thankfully neither of us were injured, The driver of the silverado was a lil sore, but that's a given. The driver of the Silverado felt that I did everything in my ability to halt my truck/trailer. The Mustang fled the scene immediately after the accident occured. The man who was hit, the police officer who arrived at the location and my company were all backing my efforts to try to stop. The officer measured 117 feet of skid marks left by my truck. However, I was given a minor ticket (Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle) and TCSI let me go because of their company / insurance companies' regulations.This was my first wreck and ticket of any kind that I have ever received. I would like to stay in the transportation industry, because I am a good fit for it, But I think from the responses I am getting that this is a career ending accident, because I cant find anyone that will touch me right now. Any advice is Welcome and Thank you for it.

if it's your first and only,you should be ok.doesn;t sound like a serious accident.having said that,it is 100percent your fault.it is your duty to stay as far back as nessecery to stop before contact,no matter how hard the guy in front of you hits the brakes.

Its up to the insurance company that covers the carrier. Bottom line is that you were following too close - you're lucky you didn't get a more serious ticket - and you're probably viewed as a risk.
Keep trying - you may end up having to drive for a construction outfit (a rock hauler) for awhile.fins2feathers Thanks this. -
How long have you had your license? Sometimes these things happen in trucking. I've known a few guys over the years that have had to go work for a carrier that they didn't really want to or didn't pay as well because of an incident early in their career. They kept their noses clean for a couple years and were able to get good jobs afterward.

Ouch you only been driving for a year its the worst time to have a accident or get tickets....with that said its going to be hard for you but not imposible good luck driver.

In some states, "failure to maintain control" falls in the category of reckless driving and could put several points on your dmv. I know in Virginia this is the case.

You need to tell companies what happen and explain it to them they be able to hire you.Also check your DAC report as well.

Not a career ender at all. You're in a good part of the country for work. Just keep poking around with smaller companies that aren't obsessed with letting their giant fleet insurance policy decide who they hire.

I think you will be able to get work. The main thing is you werent cited for following to closely or tailgating. that wouldnt be good.
