Been on the "e"log for 1.5 years now and can get up to 3000 miles per week. The problem is the 14 hour rule, as you gotta be carefull when you start your clock. The company i'm with gives you 15 minutes to drive to a safe place if your time runs out in the dock. You just have to make a note of it and your covered. It's best to spend the nite at the shipper or receiver if possible. As for the scales, some don't look to hard at the "e" log. If your company gives you plenty of time to run the load you won't have any problems, but if you run hard and tight you could have some "stress" issues.
well they finally nailed me - forced into electronic logs

Mandatory E-Logs Won't happen for a while. The court ruled them unconstitutional, BUT they will become mandatory in the next couple of years. I would still learn how to use them until the laws change again

I've been on E-Logs since May 9 of this year. I was completely against them, and then I started to realize how great they can be. I still run good miles, and I get enough rest. The downfalls are that if you're in certain places you'll have to pull over early and start making judgement calls. But, they are not that bad. For instance, one week I did a 34 in Gordonsville, VA, picked up in Strasburg, VA, 1st stop in Reno, NV, then to Fremont, CA, then to Pleasant Grove, CA for the final. Picked up near Fresno and made it to West Wendover, NV with 3:21 left on my 70. Not too shabby.

No I can't.

Well, didn't start till 5th of October and have taken almost 2 weeks of home time. They keep me busy! Max out hours all the time and get a lot more miles then I did at my last job on paper.hellomcflywakeup Thanks this. -
That's true not every company allows this, even though it is loosely stated in the dot handbook, which is a very gray line( the whole act of trying to prove it is a whole other challenge).
E-logs are a big NO---NO ..........
to me just like the phrase freeloaders.
Just my two cents

E logs are a okay I say. My hand writing blows and my paper logs always looked like garbage. I remember once I was in conn running a load down to nc. I was politely informed by dot in that great state that my hand writing was so awful it made my log look falsified. For those that don't know, falsifying your log book in that state can land you in jail for a year. The folowing month crst became 100 percent e log. I could not have been more pleased

E-logs equal less money, like 50% less money able to be earned. Freedom, me and you had some nice moments, but i gotta say bye.
man and machine don't mix when the machine is in charge! Human emotion will never get well with a robotic command. We'll see who wins? And people are not robots, we can't just "shut off" when the robot says to....man vs machine i tell you..
