For those of you not familiar with showering procedures; "each person gets their own shower."

Each truckstop awards a shower every time you pump at least 50 gallons of fuel. This 1 shower can be converted into 2 simply by going to the diesel counter and requesting 2 showers. 1 for each co-driver (for team operations).

OK, thanks for the clarification. Glad showering isn't a "team operation", and I'm not to fond of guy on guy showers.

Actually team showering is optional. If your gonna sleep in some other guys filth, you might as well wash in it too!

Thank God i have a Big sleeper truck...140 inches of ICT on a W900 stretched Frame..and im 59 yrs old...been doing this along time and where else can you see the country that most people plan a vacation for...get paid for it...dont have a boss looking over your shoulder..(maybe the qualcom for company drivers)..yeah its not for everyone but when you start looking at it likes its just a job then you dont need to be trucking because it will just leave a bad taste in your mouth...Make the money then buy your own truck and trailer and get your own authority..broker your own loads and run where you want to run...the only time you will ever find me parked at a truck stop is for fuel other than that ill pull over someplace else either a wide ramp (and i know im gonna hear about safety on that one) or ill find a walmart...to many new and old drivers dont know how to back up and im not going to find out as my sister did..I take pride in myself and my truck and that how drivers should be weather they own their rig or drive for a company.. remember the public and shippers and recievers look at you and if you look like crap or your truck and trailer look like they should be in the junkyard growing moss then it really is time to look for another job...happy new year to all...

If you can tough it out for 1 year you have a shot at getting on at a local hauler, most of the good ones want at least 3 years. I know I've checked, but most of us have to start out at companys that hire straight out of schools. And they are almost all OTR jobs. There is a reason that there is a 140% quit rate in the industry. There are some great companys out there and if you can put up with the B.S. long enough who knows maybe you can get on at one. For many of us just starting out, because of the economy this is a career change. I was a Roofer and contractor for over 30 years. The housing market collapsed and so here I am. I'm a good and safe driver and hope I can hang until I can get on at one of the good companys. Hope I ain't 90 when it happens. Endeavor to Persevere!

Jimmy, you should try driving for a unionized company. They often take drivers with little or no experience - 6 months.

Also, if you're a good and comfortable driver, you could lie a little on your apps and "extend" the time you've been driving. This will work on most smaller companies.

This explains most of the problem....Another NON trucker that glommed onto our industry when his tanked!
Now he ain't happy so he comes in here and wants to spread his misery to everyone in here.
