I would shoot for around $75-90k but who am I to say what you should/shouldn't do... HELL, as long as YOU are satisfied with YOUR salary, who cares what the next man thinks....

Do you own the truck personally, and then lease it to the company that you own? If not, check it out with a CPA. When I had 8 vans running, it was a very nice writeoff.

No, that isn't in your pocket unless you got your truck for free. Think about those numbers when you have to buy a new truck.

I saw in one of your previous posts that the gross isn't important, but that is also not true. I ran 20,000 less miles last year and made twice as much with a truck and trailer payment.

Oops i should of been more clear, the gross isnt important in this thread! Im still a beginner, and being in Central FL i think makes things tougher and im not moving. Besides im not doing this till i retire, i owned a restaurant at age 24, i trade actively, i dont have to be out there! I do like this last guys cpm though, 20k less miles and more money, very nice. Let me know if you have openings in FL.

If you want an honest answer to your post you cannot hide numbers such as your gross income or cpm. Why do that?

I was an O/O until April of 2011 and am located in Orlando area. I'm now a small fleet manager of 10 open deck/specialized trucks. This is definitely one of the toughest areas in the country to live in and be successful as an O/O and also get home 14 weeks a year. I have to send our trucks out for 2 to 3 weeks and make a minimum of 3 or 4 legs plus the outbound trip in order to make the bacon.

Home time is a bit tricky in central FL. I'm sure that there are some that can manage it and still have a very high income, but being from WI, I've never studied it enough to solve the issue.

It also depends on how you like your home time. I prefer to stay out a really long time and then take a lot of time off. I haven't calculated my days out for the year yet, but I know it is much less than average even though I stay out a long time.

    PM me if you like.

that's what i love about O/O he took tons of vacation/home time and wasnt fired and his DAC ruined... lol

and for netting 55k that's actually pretty good.

beats working in a bottom feeder for 35-40k a year (THE FULL YEAR no vacation).

Your perdiem should be higher, no?

    38 weeks,(7*38*$59/day=$15694)

the rest of the quick math I calc'd...

105226* (.90cpm)most big carriers are somewhere near this number +/-
    .03-.05
    =94703
then about $250 for insurances for the year(i'm not sure how you'd get out of paying for the entire year, even though you took 14 weeks off)
    -13000(52*$250)

then figure for fuel-the biggies like to keep the (lp- o/o) crew around 1.25 gallon adter surcharge.

    so, (105226/7)=15032 gallons*1.25= 18790

    so, 94703-13000-18790=62913

Now, if you had to make the payment @ $450/week---

where else are you getting dinged??
