The thing about Layton is you get 4 days home time, place is clean and I can always do laundry. I'm just 2 months solo and I'm based outta Brooks. My D.M. is Joe B. I'm starting to really appreciate the guy. Out a month and only wanted to give me 3 days home time, but I sniveled and complained and got 4 days, Then he gave me New Years Off. Yeah I know freight is slow, but still, I constantly call him on the phone and he's been pretty decent. I'm 57 and this is a new career start and so far Mays been alright.

Sounds like you got an awesome DM as well. With me usually i get my 3 full days off and usually 1 day to go home and return which would be half days. My DM has been really good about gettn me home. I am 47 and drove in the past and then went into a complete diff field, then went back to ranchn and farmn then decided to get my CDL back and then came to May. One of my goals here at May is to become a coach, and i would like to get into the safety aspect of it.

Been following your ordeal in Wyoming, felt really bad for you, thank God it's over. Spent 2 days in Fontana about a month ago over wind conditions, but nothing like what you've went through. Hope you get Idle and Layover time. Glad your O.K.

Thank you, ya it was not a good thing however after traveling east today i was very happy that i stopped when i did even though it wasnt a lot of fun, however i do feel for those that were less fortunate (those that were layed over in the ditch). That night that i stopped right before i got to the sinclair exit i truly believe my trailer tires on the driver side came off the ground. But its over and done with and now move on to another exiting week. Hope ya have a good one and may be i will be able to meet some more of yous out here on the road BE SAFE

It is supposed to be 1 day per week out.
That being said, I was out almost 10 weeks, and only took 5 days. I have been out 4 weeks and have been given 6 and 7 days off. I will get a call at home, and be told take an extra day or two to spend with my family...all the time.
ASK FOR YOUR TIME! The worst they can say is NO

You won't get a load today. Coming off a holiday weekend, most likely means no. That is what I was told this morning after driving all the way down here.

Well get to spend the night at the Denver Terminal. Sat here all day but kinda knew after talking to a couple other drivers and my DM that freight is slow moving here. However finally got to meet Efon that was pretty cool, and met a couple other drivers so it wasnt all a waste. I am gonna get a good night sleep and hope that i get rolln tomarrow, You all have a safe night and be safe where ever you may be.
