Hey Spat....my brother has been in that white collar IT industry for approx 13 years now...he digs it, BUT he is really good at the whole white collar political game....and as far as his 2 cents...he says you get your foot in the door and instantly start networking (no pun intended...seriously)...he started at help desk, then NA...did that for about 5 years and has been moving around in the ranks since then...he's actually working for a company now that's handles high dollar scanners....going in to management officially on like Jan 5th for that same company.
I don't know....after hanging with my bro a few times over lunch, and seeing server rooms in person...and all those racks and knowing what they all do, seems VERY intriguing to me. Also, my biggest decision maker....I've been stuck in too many "comfort" zones....wanna keep growing, keep learning, keep bettering myself....and I'm downright scared crapless about school....hence why I think I should dive in and go for it!!
I love knowledge, I love reading....not much for stories, but lots of info! HAHA
Also like rednecktigger said....follow your heart....and this is definitely in there!
Then again, like I said earlier...love driving a big rig...in a way, makes me feel like a bada$$....the kid in me feels darn good driving truck....argh!! LOL

I'm very close to going with FFE.. Been reading this thread constantly and need a change. New Year, what better time, right? I have spoken with a recruiter already, (Micky Stuckey) my record is clean, driving, criminal, and health. I do however have many tattoos. I know certain companies that deal with the public at times tend to shy away from people with tattoos. Does FFE have a policy against this? I am highly educated, have a college degree that I don't care to use, I have run the kitchen of the busiest restaurant in my city for three years, successfully mind you, and I know I can learn as much as I want to learn about truck driving, which is alot. I'm just really apprehensive about taking this plunge into a new career because I know I will be taking a huge pay cut for atleast the first two years. I do need a change, and a change quickly. I have wanted to drive a truck for years but have always been tied down for one reason or another. I am single now, no kids, and limited bills. The only thing really holding me back is my present career and possibly some tattoos. Which are all very well done by the way.. No prison stuff here. Any info would be greatly appreciated. And Playmaker, Thank you for starting this thread and Spat and Tigger, you dudes are ok too I guess. Thanks,

I think I see a dent I am not sure but also see a piece of tissue hanging out the door. Just my my observation........BAZINGA. Just kidding big guy, looks great. So you did go with the one piece caps. Ok I guess I better step up my game.

Spat, sat in a new one just like it in Lancaster Friday, beautiful truck. Congrats!

** are the people in your class quitting because the trucks have small problems, or (there not used to being away from home), all drivers have there own tools to fix the minor problems, almost all trucking companys don't clean there trucks except for schneider they do clean and repair them before a new driver receives it, (maybe only 2 loads going to Texas versus 50 loads then you could understand why he would say that)Last edited: Jan 2, 2012

if you are seeing what i know is there, there is a dent. we beter stop talking about it because he will have to send it to the bodyshop..... i am going to start buying those caps also. my rear drivshaft nubs(or whatever call them in the middle of the drive rims) are rusting, actually the paint peeled off withing the first 2 weeks i had her and they rusted. very ugly

i believe it has the 13 liter engine and not the 15 liter which is the cat motor with new air and fuel system, let us now how it runs and handles compared to the freight shaker, thanks oopps almost forgot, heard those prostars are a little on the heavy side, if you get a chance to weigh the truck only with full tanks would be alsome, thanks again

From my experience so far I have driven both and the international pulls like a beast. I hope in a couple weeks I get an international when I go solo. The freight shaker feels like someone de balled it. Way too much downshifting on hills that you shouldn't need to. However I love the room in them.
