Getting pumped up to head to texas... talked to an old buddy last night... he does work on down hole frac tools for one of the big companies, been in the business for years... nice guy, sharp, hard worker, but he ain't joe engineer.... anyway his w2's gonna say 170k for '11... pay attention people... there are opportunities outside the cab, learn everything you can and be ready!!
His take is the current boom will continue for years to come... eventually company's get staffed up and the hours will be less but good secure work will be around.

I would like to see his crystal ball. He must have years and years of experience and good at what he does and be the top dog on the job to get paid those wages in Texas. You are correct driving a truck is not where the big money is at. Any tom, dick, harry and sally can hold a steering wheel and drive a truck but you get in the other side of oil field and you will make some big money, look what crane operators, equipment operators, etc......are making. Their are so many other careers in the oil industry. Pay attention people and get it while it is their and save your money because when they turn out the light it is dark.

Bout a day behind ya leaving Eugene OR Wed am headed to san antonio with a monday arrival... possible job awaiting final word otherwise looks like plenty of work to be had... here's to a prosperous '12.
-
So how much do crane operators, equipment operators, etc make?
-
That's entirely possible, as I understand it a lot of producers slow down at the end of the year for tax purposes or some such.Patt52 Thanks this.
