no one can convince that there pay goes up with e-logs. specially you reefer boys.
driving 18 hours. that's a myth. we run safe and legal. but we do it on our own accord.
3000 miles on e-logs MIGHT be possible. if you don't drive reefer. and your over in the flatland. over here in the mountains your going to be lucky to get 2500 miles.
we all know how you boys have to spend your shipper and receiver time ON DUTY. i seen prime flatbedders log 10 hours at the shipper. took them an hour to drive there. so there 14 hour was used to drive to the shipper. get there load. tarp it. and park at the truck stop again to do there 10. ONE WHOLE DAY WAS SPENT JUST PICKING UP THE LOAD.
#1 rule of driving is no fatigued driving. that will ALWAYS supercede what the govt imposes on us. cars SHOULD be obeying that law too.
so why are cars allowed to drive whenever they want but truckers have to be told when to drive and when to sleep?
i run e-logs. ON MY LAPTOP.
the government really appreciates when we support there a s s in the form of taxes. so how are we supposed to support there a s s if they don't want us to work.
if i'm 15 minutes from my destination. guess where i'm going. if i've used up my 70 and i'm an hour from the house. well guess what. it's the weekend and i'm GOING HOME.
well they finally nailed me - forced into electronic logs

canada make a strike against the govt back in 1990.
it's time us americans did the same thing.
i dodn't know why the h e l l they got rid of the old rules anyways. since that's how must truckers run instead of these new rules.
and this employment verification B.S. really makes it hard for truckers to find a job elsewhere. when there previous companies refuse to fill those forms out.
AND CSA 2010. WTF. and let's not forget the warning tickets we can't fight. -
Nobody anywhere is pushing me if they did I would put a new set of stickers on the door. They dont have to I know what needs done and why. The point I was try to make is that the laws are meant for a cookie cutter type world. I dont know about you but I dont live there. One of these days I may get burnt and get my hand slapped its all part of the game thats been created. The DOT has job to do and I have 1 as well sometimes they conflict. I chose to do my job in a very safe and efficient manner. I try to stay with in the boundaries that have been set up but thats not my first concern.
For all you drivers out there that like your e-logs, like your truck that looks just like 1000s of others and need or dont mind having your hand held all the time. There is room out here for you too..... In the right lane please try to stay there.snowblind Thanks this. -
If I am home every night and weekends it won't affect me so much when the 70 hour week clock runs out on Friday afternoon.Skip1965 Thanks this.

So if every truck has an EOBR that records a drivers actual hours working would that be doorway to do away with pay by miles and bring in a system that pays by hours and a bonus of CPM run.
It could work for company drivers. Don't see how it would work for o/os. -
I manage the eLogs at a refer company and we're turning about 3400 miles per week. Granted there are good weeks and bad weeks but typically about 3400.
-
Ok. I pull a reefer. I am on e-logs. Have been since 5/9/11. They are more efficient. I'll tell you how. It's always calculating your hours. Always. It doesn't take 15 minutes to fuel most times. Nor does a Pre-Trip. You actually gain hours because you're not using 15 minutes all the time. Next, because your clock is actually running now, you yourself are more efficient. You actually learn to be a better driver because you are aware that you actually have to work in that 14 hour window, and are guaranteed 10 hours off. Are there downfalls? Yes. But nothing a little planning can't fix. If you plan and route your trips before you start, you'll be able to make the most of your time. You can still run 4,000 miles a week. It's possible, I've done it.

Even with e-logs we're told a pretrip WILL take 15 minutes .
-
I haven't been told that. I guess some companies have different rules. But in he end, the E-Logs do save time.
-
We're not telling that people that, a pre trip doesn't have to be any set amount of time. However, if you are actually doing a full pre trip it's going to be close to 15 minutes.joseph1135 Thanks this.
