What is the pay starting out and how did you get your CDL?
I hate to travel 1000 miles north, if I can work for the same company near their home office of Enid, Ok for the same amount of money.

Each yard has a different pay scale. You pay is, off course, effected as much by the hours you work as the hourly rate. I am tracking for a little less than the yearly income numbers you have seen on other posts. My employer will appreciate me not advertising to the public what is confidential information. I will say that I am making a good living. Less money that you can get farther north, off-set by much cheaper living expenses down here. I suspect in the end I am probably netting out about the same.
I earned my CDL at a school in Phoenix, where I live. It is called, simply, CDL school. One week of training for $1,500. Call and ask for Scott.
Hopefully this helps. -
"Outsidelookingin" [Keith] good post, I'm lining up interviews/meetings in four areas and will be heading up there at the end of the month after finishing up my lease agreement and turning my tractor in. I have one year exp and have all endorsements. Question: The bunkhouse is individual rooms? I'll call them tomorrow. Thx

You and every other sand hauler in the country are looking at coming to ND. Rates will be crap here soon too. Are you looking to lease on or haul direct with the service companies?Big John Thanks this.

It sounds like everyone is going to ND, but after looking back at threads 1 year ago, they mentioned the same thing. Some threads also mentioned a lot of people only last about 3 or 4 months. Western ND SEEMS(really don't know) as about as exciting as Western Ks, basically nothing to do unless you like pheasant hunting, but I am sure it's hard to find places to hunt up north and that is for only a few months out of the year.

Trying to find a decent job hauling frac sand, water or pipe for the oilfield industry for my hubby. Want to find a decent company with decent pay that he can work for. He's got experience, clean record and all the requirements. Anyone got the names of good companies looking for drivers? He's also open to hauling pipe from Texas, etc to oilfield locations. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hey outside, do you know if they hire females? I am not unexperienced, have three years otr, and what is the schedule? Also do you know any info about being able to accomodate someone who has a dog. I want to make a life up there. I am unencumbered and all my stuff is already in storage since i live in the truck. But i have her with me.
