to the guy that suggested the canyon, could you give me some more details on this route? does it still take me to kamloops? i ask because i made it a routine to stop at the flying j on my way back to pig out at the new dennys there..

but yes def learned my lesson about the #### brake checks. i always stop, just that zopkios i had skipped a couple times before, since there's that one brake check like 5 minutes before zopkios. never again not pullin over there though, not worth it.

cop was a nice fellow though, i'll give him that.

Clapperton brake check is 1hr before Zopkios.

It will certainly show up on the carrier's NSC rating, but if AB and BC don't have reciprocity, it won't show up on your driver's abstract. This, I know, from personal experience, as BC and MB don't have reciprocity.

Alberta now has a Commercial Driver Abstract.

COMMERCIAL DRIVER ABSTRACT (CDA) OVERVIEW
Alberta Transportation and Service Alberta have jointly developed a new Commercial Driver Abstract (CDA). The CDA was requested by industry to provide them with accurate information on prospective and current commercial drivers. Previously, the only information available was found in the current driver abstract and whatever other information the driver was willing to share about his or her driving history.

The CDA incorporates existing Driver's Abstract information and includes information on National Safety Code (NSC) infractions such as hours of service violations, cargo securement violation or overloads. It also includes results of Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections. The CDA is inclusive of information from any NSC violation received while operating commercially registered vehicles.

How far back does the cda show? Same as regular abstracts?

I was told currently 5 years. I just pulled mine last month (3 year one). It showed the 3 times I had been inspected. 2 of them level 1 inspections that I passed, and 1 level 3 of which I also passed. So I would assume that if the list the passed inspections, that they would show all infractions.

Q. For what time period will the CDA show violations?
A. The first version of the CDA will contain information for the last 3 years, from the date of the request.
Q. Can I get a CDA for a longer period of time?
A. Not at this time. The first version of the CDA allows for a 3 year history only. Once developed, the second phase of the CDA will include the availability to request 5 and 10 year Commercial Driver Abstracts.
Q. How long will violations appear on my CDA?
A. From the date the CDA is requested all moving violations, non-moving violations, and CVSA inspection results will show on your CDA, for the past 3 years. Once the 5 and 10 year abstracts are available, violations as old as 10 years could appear on your abstract.
Q. Can insurance agencies obtain bulk batches of CDAs, similar to the current Driver Abstract?
A. Not at this time. This process will also be available on the second phase of the CDA; however, bulk batches will continue to be available with the current Driver Abstract.
Q. When will the second phase be completed to allow for bulk batches and 5 and 10 year CDAs?
A. The second phase of the CDA is targeted to be completed in early 2012.
