Help me out here....I just ordered a galaxy 959 from a company in Tennessee and its coming peaked and tuned and all that jazz. Im running a K40 with a mirror bracket on my freightshaker, i took off the mirror 4ft Firesticks and also ran 18ft single Coax. Now, with all that being said is this radio gonna reach out and talk with this setup or if not what are some suggestions. I know once i receive the radio im gonna take over to the CB DR. over there in Bowman off of 159 by the Pilot, i hear he's a genius with these noise makers.

My 949 fell apart on me. My DX 48T was a monster! Good luck with the 959.

Forget the "firesticks", Go with the "FRANCIS", you won't regret it until you run more power.

It will do just fine IF you have a good rf ground on your mirror mount. A cheap radio and a good antenna set up will "walk the dog and kick the cat"!
(My guess is you will have to do some bonding to get maximum results.)

Want more from your 959? The ELK 75 add on amp would be your best, cheapest and easiest way to go. Dont pay no more than $45.00 for it and you should see around 100 watts out of your radio after install. Antenna wise, save your money and buy a Predator 10K.This is the only antenna and i mean the only antenna out of all i have used in the last 15 years that i could actually tell a difference in the way the radio received and talked. They go from $65 and up but are well worth the money.Anything else and your just pissing your money away for nothing.

Unless you come across an OLDER Roadking 56, I would go for the astatic.

The 959 is a good radio. You should see 25w or so out of it, maybe more if its the mosfet version. I just got a Galaxy dx94hp for christmas and its a monster. I am also supposed to be picking up a 48t tommorow. I live right down the road in Summerville.
