Reading through the threads here I found a common thread: They Lie and It's Not My Fault!! I'm assuming we are all adults here. And we've finished school (most of us) and have been contributing to society in some way. If you are a driver and keep on having to leave jobs, it's not them. It's you. I'm not sticking up for any company. I've been at my carrier for almost 5 years and will stay around for a while. Is it perfect? Not by a mile is it perfect. But I learned the system, I get the miles I want (from 2800-3400 a week) and I make decent money. I hate the insurance. It's horrible. But, because I earned my spot, and I'm given decent loads for the most part, I learned to work around it. When I started, I got crap miles and an old truck and wasn't treated great. As time went on, I got new trucks, got good miles and raises. And a lot of respect. You can't go somewhere and in a week expect them to bow at your feet. Your dog or personal problems aren't their problem. They are yours. It's not their fault if you didn't have money for Christmas. It's yours. It happens every year, the same time, without fail. It's not a surprise. There are indeed bad companies, no doubt about it. But it's your responsibility to RESEARCH THEM. If you have knowledge you have power. It's up to you to make the right choices that will work for you. Respect yourself and your industry. You're the professional, and be that professional in every way, the way you speak, dress, present yourself, etc. If you dress and smell like you crawled out from under a rock or fail to take the time to research your next job move, you will continue to fail. It's up to you to be responsible for your life and your career. And lastly, stop crying about how bad lease purchase is. At this point it's common knowledge about these deals. If you don't have the money to buy a truck on your own with money to put aside for a repair, you're not ready and setting yourself up to fail. Be safe, Godspeed, and Happy New Year.

You definately have a point here. At least take responsibility for your own actions and mistakes.

My carrier isn't perfect either. My truck is older and it breaks down occasionally, I'm not paid as much as I could be at another carrier. We are small so its more work than working at a large carrier. But they treat me with respect and as part of a team and get me home on a regular basis. Its all how you make do with what you are given.

Exactly. You have to learn their system and make it work for you

An excellent post Joseph! I often wonder how some of these people get through life. And what's more, never seem to take any personal responsibility for their own actions or poor judgement.

This is an excellent post. I often wonder how much time I have wasted on this site reading all of the whining and bickering about the carriers. Yes, there is also alot of great information on this site too. I am just started out with this career and have gain ALOT of knowledge from this site. I agree with Joseph 100%, you get out what you put into the career. So those of you that are whining, shut up, suck it up and drive on down the road. @123456, I'm sure Joseph put this in the thread b/c this is one where alot of whining is going on.
