Sounds like some of you are becoming one of those "terminal guys"
You guys need to get the notion out of your head that Springfield is the end all be all for repair and PM needs. The place is a hole where trucks go to sit and wait... wait for appointments, then wait for a load out of town.
You are going to find that setting an appointment in Springfield puts your FM in a box. He doesnt want you to miss that appointment because its usually a 4-5 day wait for another, so most of the time the freight wont match up and you end up arriving a day, two or three early. Days you could be running and turning miles. Ever been on a list of 80+ trucks waiting to get out of town... it happens.
You know what you can do at Pittston or SLC? You can send a macro 30 a day out or less and get an appointment. Then have all the work done while on a 10 break. They usually do a better job too. APUs, Truck, Windshields, Tires... they can do it all and usually better.
PMs can be done at any Petro or TA. Under a load, on a break, no loss of miles. You know what you can expect from a Springfield PM, the PM thats it... None of the extras fluid checks, tire pressures, tread depth etc, free steak dinner promotion.
Then again maybe you like spending all that time there... You'll develop a reputation with your FM... Like the Seebs situation. Then I will start getting Private Messages again, only this time the other Prime guys around here will be predicting your departure.
I'll take going home and coming out any day for low milage week... waiting for repair or PM... nu uh
I got issued my newer truck the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. As of this past Tuesday Ive got just under 14k dispatched miles (13,942) in 5 pay weeks. 2 trips to the shop in SLC for an APU problem, a replaced starter at the Cheyenne Freightliner, and a PM at a TA in NY. Under load, on time, no repower.

Thanks for the info, I will make sure i try and get my repairs done in SLC.
silenteagle Thanks this. -
Im just saying dont fall into the trappings of Springfield. Its a really nice place... Its not making you any money sitting there waiting. The wait is longer there.
I'd like to think that we are all out here to make the most money we can , otherwise why would we spend the time away from home, friends, and family?
Im just saying, if you need something done, you are never more than a day and half from any of the three terminals... Pittston and SLC will get you in and out much quicker. -
You can get a PM at Speedco as well.
What U2 said... I avoid the SPRIMO shop simply because its so hard to get anything done in a timely fashion and a load out.silenteagle Thanks this. -
Avoid door handles and such, sanitize often, and bring "No Evil Oil". There is a bug going around sprimo.
silenteagle Thanks this. -
Yeah, avoid it like the plague! Pulled into Pittston awhile back for a tire issue. Got new steers, two new drives and popped into the shop to see about a PM on my APU. Night foreman told me to pull it in when done at tire shop. He couldn't find a free mechanic so did it himself. All work done and in the sleeper in under 3 hrs. Never gonna happen at SPRIMO.Last edited: Jan 3, 2012

Just thought I would thank U2exit for this. It should stay at the top.of the subject. Rest of you noobs should take heed. Or better yet, as my drill sergeant once said, "it would behoove you to stay away from that place!"

My second company truck was governed at 65... about 6 months after they started the fuel program, the moron that thinks he knows better than the manufacturers began "helping" us by messing with the ECM settings. They started with turning you down if you didn't make the fuel cutoff. Then they started turning you down anyway. I stayed away from there for 1-1/2 years, got my maintenance at SLC and Pittston - and had a 65-mph company truck when I turned it in.

Getting my APU done at Pitt this week

Send a macro 30 and get an appointment.
I did that Sunday... message back is we'll fit you in.
Showed in PRIPIT at 2300-ish on Monday for a forcast Tuesday 0300 appointment. Got into the shop at 0130, done by 0330. They fixed a fried over-temp sensor in my bunk heater (working really fine tonight!) and got my APU PM done.
Now tell me you can get service like that in Springfield!

...oh yeah. Almost forgot to mention. They were very apologetic for "making" me wait that long! That's a great shop!!
