i just realized that hear in California in 08 a cell phone law will go in to affect. The law would state that you need to use a headset to talk on your phone while driving. You will not be able to hold your phone while driving!
What i was wondering is will cbs be affected by this law?
cb's/cell phones

Hm, I hope someone can find out. California has been eying CBs for many years...they just might try and get them! If anyone knows, please let us all know, thanks!

I think they would have a problem with the laws on CB Radio. The wording would have to be precise, otherwise police, fire, ems would all be in violation.

1) when some folks use the cell , they have to look away from their driving to dial
2) Alot of sales people are driving , talking on the phone , taking notes, writing orders , reading the morning paper, drinking their mocha latte (non-fat, of course), sending an e-mail to the office on their blackberry, and putting on makeup (for the ladies) and/or re-arranging their comb-over (for the guys)
3) EMS , police, truckers can operate two-ways & CB's without looking away from the road . -
That is a very good point. My mom is a teacher and she taught a kid who was killed by a cell phone idiot, while waiting for the bus. The kids mom and sister both survived. -
Here's a twist. Public safety people have MDT's (mobile data terminals) in most of their vehicles.
This goes for fire depts as well as pd.
You cannot have a video screen playing a movie, or probably anything else
for that matter, in the drivers view..you could get a ticket.
Yet, Public safety gets to play their MDT's like a video game going down the road.
They're checking out your plates while looking at their email, while looking at someones mug shot etc.
What a deal huh?
