Give me a Kwik Trip/Kwik Star any day of the week. Found in WI, IA, MN. Nice and clean with friendly people.

I never did like any of the big nationwide chain truck stops. The only good thing Pilot has going for them is the coffee.

I married a truck driver in November 2011 and for our honeymoon I rode with him in the big truck for two weeks. He tends to rely on the big chains , Pilot, TA & Love's because he knows basicaly what to expect though quality does vary a bit from one location to another. I have a passion for supporting independents however so as we traveled I searched the net for truck stops in the general area that we planned to stop each night. We were pleased more often than not.
#1 Favorite: Sapp Brothers in Clearfield, PA - I-80 exit 19. Every stall in the ladies room had a toilet and a sink! There were showers available naturally but they also offer bath tubs and even have a sauna! The food was good, the store extensive and the parking very good. 2nd - Alta Station in Ashbury, WV, I-64 exit 161, small parking lot but good food and best for just feeling comfortable. Excellent sausage, egg & cheese biscuits. Best food - Scotty's Restaurant at the Wilton Truck Plaza in Wilton, NY-very big parking lot too.

    Arrowhead has a Casino too!

These American Indian owned Casino truckstops have really stepped up their game in the West. Nice clean showers, plenty of laundry machines and nice TV lounges...

I can think of a couple in OK and NM also.

I liked Effingham, IL. Maybe not so much because of the Truck Stop itself, but because there was a Walmart across the street and everything else that you have around Walmart's in your regular friendly neighborhood shopping areas like; the bank of your choice, the fast food restaurant of your choice, etc, etc. It's just nice to see civilization every once in awhile cause (in case you didn't know) being a trucker doesn't only keep you away from home, it also keeps you away from anywhere where you can't drive/park 72+ feet

Pilot and Loves are NOT truckstops, they are fuel stops.

Truckstops have sit down restaurants where a waitress takes your order and serves your food...among other differences.

    airforcetoo and Nitelite Thank this.

the Bosslemans are always good. as far as a clean fuel stop, i would have to vote for HESS/Roger Wilco as being some of the cleanest places around.

Little America off the I80 in WY comes to mind, Johnsons corner for breakfast off the I25 in Ft Collins-try their cinanmon rolls, the wagon wheel (I think thats what its called) just east of Boise off the I84. See a trend here? the really good ones are the independant opps for the most part.
