Depending on where you are in NJ, and now urgent your need to go to work is, the fastest places are going to be in the container hauling business. I know it isn't the most lucrative part of trucking, but it can be a place to start while looking for some better options. There are a couple of container companies that come to mind that are fairly decent for that part of the industry. Container Port Group, Bridge Terminal Transport, and Pacer Stacktrain are all as reputable as anyone in that part of the industry. If Triple Crown is operating in your area, they are worth taking a look at as well, though they will be out of a railyard as oposed to a container port. These are all companies that you can sign on with fairly quick, as opposed to the processes that take longer with other companies.

Another option may be to look into trash hauling, pulling trailers to out of state landfills. That is fairly regional, since the value of trash prohibits dragging it too far.

Also, as a temporary step, UPS and Fedex and other package companies are putting on trucks getting ready for the holiday rush, but that's a temp deal and it ends after the beginning of the year.

A lot depends on how much you want to go to work, and how long you can afford to stay out of work. I like regional running, but it isn't always the easist thing to find.

Do you have your own authority? When you say regional, how often do you want to be home?

Have you guys checked out A Duie Pyle? The have company drivers as well as O/O's, and they say you'll pretty much run only as far south as MD, and as far west as PA. And they say home weekends. Might be worth checking out if you haven't already.
