I know that this has been on other posts?
Can you transfer your American CDL over to a Canadian CDL?

Or do you have to start over with a Canadian driving school?

Was thinking about moving up there, bad US economy. Esier to get hired with one?

check it out here US to Canada

I haven't read the thread except the 2nd post.. It says no that they are not transferrable. You will have to start out fresh...

If you ask me it is kind of stupid.. Canada should know what class your licence is in the U.S (and visa versa for US>Canada) .... A truck driver in the US is not any different then a truck driver in Canada.. We all have to operate the same piece of machinery

When we moved to Canada six years ago I had to go to Valley Driving School for their short course. You had to take an air brakes course, before you could take that test. And then after driving course you could use their truck and trailer for the driving test. All in all it made it worth while

I hear there is lots of work in North Dakota related to the oil patch and some related to the possible new pipeline (although it might have died with the latest hold on the project).

In addition to securing a CDL in the province of your choice you will also have to immigrate. That process may be difficult if you can't qualify as a "Skilled Worker" or "Professional". Check this site out http://www.canadavisa.com/canadian-immigration-faq.html or http://www.wikihow.com/Emigrate-from-the-US-to-Canada-As-a-Skilled-Worker-or-Professional

In Saskatchewan your license is recognized without retesting. You have 90 days to pass a medical.

I know several people who moved to Saskatchewan from the UK to continue their driving careers.
