Time to take his truck and run. Run fast, run far. There are companies out there looking for experienced O/Os who run old school and actually pay for that experience. He has absolutely no reason to stick this out. Even if I was in a lease program with those guys, I would have left months ago. If I can't get out of the hole after two weeks, it's time to move on. He can get temporary permits himself and take the truck home under private coach, not for hire.

Another option is to get himself hired on with another company that can help him get out of this mess. With his experience, it shouldn't be too difficult. He's got to look around, though. Nobody can do it for him.

he doesn't have a home...thats the worst part...he lives in his truck...and if he has no money then he cant just leave to fined a job,he will get stuck in a parking lot somewhere...he has been filling out application...but they wont him to come for interviews.and he doesnt have the fuel to drive to them,,,he try to get load close,,,but hes constantly running out of fuel cause they dont keep enough money on the fuel card

Then I guess he's stuck there. I don't know what else to suggest.

My experience, though, is of getting hired from a telephone interview...and not just by Swift. My record speaks for itself. They call me. I am happy where I am, so have no reason to leave.

I've always been told..."when you find yourself in a hole, QUIT DIGGING!" Continuing to stay there, where he's obviously getting ripped, is doing nothing but digging the hole deeper. With that much experience, he can't(or won't) see this?

I talked to Tetreau about leasing on back in Feb 2011, the owner talked a good game, and I considered leasing, but I started researching the company. It was a new company, but the owner talked about how he had drivers that had been with him for 15 years and such, sounded a little suspicious. Then I stumbled across an article that named the owner as someone who owed a dozen drivers THOUSANDS of dollars, and he closed up shop and started a new MC and was doing it all over again. needless to say, I never called back.

One thing I don't understand is "old school" truckers stuck in their ways... you can find out SOO much information if you just search for it... time to add some new tricks to your old school bag... better than learning stuff the hard way

Sadly, way too many drivers think that if they have been driving a long time or are "old school" they are owner/op material. Here is proof to the contrary. This guy clearly should be a company driver. Living in his truck? Working 5 months without a check? He is in way over his head. He should sell his truck and call 800-44PRIDE?:biggrin_2553:
