Well I was BT the other day to Bradenton 12/31 when my check engine light comes on. Gauges and all were fine and it was driving fine. Checked Fault and it was DEF pump. Talked to RA and they said roll with it it is happening with a lot of new trucks. Today the message came out about moisture. Well I had none as I drain everyday and it was 70 degrees in florida that day. But one more reason to drain the tanks.

And yep it has to be the DEF pump cause I have driven 1800 miles and used no DEF. Book says you can run a bit before service.

    Moisture ??? :biggrin_25523:

The BIG selling point of DEF is water vapor is all that remains in the exhaust.

i believe it was moisture in the air tanks and cold temps. DEF system uses air to push DEF into the chamber. So moisture in air system can freeze and damage components before the chamber. I am not saying this is a fact but my understanding. My bigger point was that I was in 70 degree temps and had drained my tanks as I do daily.

I just had a DEF tank heater go out. Truck won't run the same without a warm bottle to suck on. :biggrin_25513:

Should only stink if you smell what comes out of the second stage (Decomposition reactor) in the system, as that stage it has converted the exhaust into Ammonia which is stinky indeed.
