I'd personally rather try any auto over a 10-speed. I'd have to learn how to shift all over!
Larry I loaded in Cincinatti. Why, do you want to step in for me on the next one?
I just realized tonight, on the seemily inevitable Holcomb/Ottawa run after this, that I've been taking arguably the long way on every trip! I always run 83/383/your choice up to 80, but I see now it's actually shorter to run 156 through *dah dah dah dum!* Great Bend to 70 and up 35. I haven't been to Great Bend yet...

156 through Great Bend is the short way? I have ran both routes and they seem to be the exact same. I prefer to work my way up to 80 simply because I go through Lincoln and can stop for lunch with my better half.
-
Yeah they are really close. Anybody know a good Kansas City and Turnpike bypass from 70 E to 35 N?
-
About the only option is to take K4 north out of Topeka to US 59N. Then at Atchinson take K7 north to Troy then take US 36W over to Cameron, MO where you will pick up I 35. Not sure is the hassle of small towns is worth bypassing the KSTP. If you just do the whole worm your way up to 80 thing you'll be in Brooklyn, IA in 10.5 hours. I'm sure running skinny roads up to US 36 is bound to add some time to the trip.

has anybody notice, when your on 80 or 74 in Illinois, you pass quite a few of trucks, but when you get two Iowa it seems as your getting your doors blown off by Bullhaulers and Reefer Drivers?? I can't be the only one who has realized this
-
Yeah, Iowa makes me feel like I'm back at Central, and Nebraska, whew, here I come Prime! I'll probably run both tomorrow.
Husker, I was thinking the same route. I'm more interested in bypassing Kansas City than the turnpike, though cash tolls are a pain in a truck. I see KS-156 is restricted between Burdett and Rozel. What's up with that? 50/50 chance I'm just going to go up to 80 anyway. -

Where in God's green Earth did you see the restriction for 156? We run that all the time between Holcomb & Great Bend. People tend to mind their P's & Q's in Illinois, the fuzzy bears over there don't really play around. When it was 65/55 they would bust you for 56 and it just kind of carried over. In Chicago the full growns are pretty laid back and won't really bother you as long as you're not weaving in and out of traffic and staying with the flow. Once you get out in the rural areas those Barney's think they have something to prove I guess.
