Been doing allot... allot of home work and ready to get my CDL and start hauling water or sand somewhere in TX. Don't want to drive OTR unless I have to.
I live in Nevada where there is no oil field trucking.
Question;
To save two or three thousand dollars, should I get my CDL in NV and try to line up work in TX from here? or Spend the extra money to move to TX now (go to trucking school there) get CDL, and line up work in TX?
Another question;
The TX schools say they have oil industry recruiters come by all the time making presentations to the students. Do you think that's worth moving there to go to school? Or should I just line up companies from NV, go down to TX when I have several interviews to do in person.
Thanks for looking.,
NV school or TX school?

I'd goto school in Tx if they're in with the oilfield. It'll be much easier to get your foot in the door. The oilfield is just getting started over in Tx. I was down in south Tx from June till Oct. hauling cuttings off of drilling rigs. I had several conversations with some fairly high up guys in the oil business and they all said the drilling hasn't even gotten started good in south Tx. Their looking at 10 yrs at least.

Ya looks like the big T X is the way to go. Not many opportunities to get hired from a local school out of Nevada. Seems like every company in the country goes through Texas.
