Hello guys and gals, I am a convicted felon currently on first offender status. From everything I have read to everything I have asked from people says that when i complete probation and have my record expunged that most jobs will not be able to see the conviction on my record.

I was wondering if the trucking schools i am looking at will be able to see it, I called some and told them upfront about the expungement and they say that there rules are the same whether or not a charge has been expunged on their felony hiring rules.

I was wondering if anybody has had an expungement and if the company or school that you work for seen it on their background check. I am eager for a career change as i have not been able to find anything to do as a felon, i can't even get a job at McDonalds.

Thanks for the responces ahead of time.

Most to all companies will not hire a convicted felon that is under 5 years. Some are 10 years and some companies will not hire felon at all.More likely a career in trucking isn't going to happen, maybe 5-10 years down the road but as for now, nope, sorry.

Be aware that you might be able to expunge your charge(s) from the court database in which background checks are made by public entities. Your charges will be on some files for life (like with the FBI), it will be just generally not attainable by the public. That was pretty much the old rule, but with all these private databases out there today, I have to wonder if an expungement will really knock out your public record. Even with an expungement, you might be caught having to do a heap of explaining or be prepared to just get back one of those you do not meet our qualifications responses.

It can't be expunged if you were convicted. It MIGHT qualify for sealing ($1000). One qualification for sealing; the charge has to be ADJUDICATION WITHHELD. Either way, you don't mention the conviction if it was expunged or sealed. It won't show up, unless you are wanting to work in law enforcement or anything pertaining to TSA. You probably won't be eligible for hazmat or hauling to Canada.
I (unfortunately) had a misdemeanor 25 years ago for criminal mischief and did alot of research. You should consider checking out some law websites. They'll give you info, for FREE!
