Thanks! I know the feeling when it comes to dealing with Alliance. It took me almost 6 months to get through the process and get funding. Plus the holidays make it even harder. If you're having that much of an issue getting A hold of him after the holidays I would call and ask to speak with a supervisor and voice your concerns and see if they can help or maybe get a new caseworker assigned. Good luck and try not to give up. It'll be worth it in the end.

Happy New Year to you as well, and all the best!
I'm still searching around, but it seems like I'm going more into Western Truck Pacific Truck School in Modesto also to get my CDL...
Also Werner hires from them and have regional jobs even for newbbies, which I'm looking more to do than OTR.

Thanks Asphalt! Good luck with school. If you end up going to WePac I think you'll be happy with your choice, I definitely was. I think they're the best school in the area.

Interesting...I have been signed up with Alliance for over 3 months. I am also trying to get the grant for WPT and haven't even met my case worker yet. he just never, ever returns calls or emails. Starting to really tick me off. How long did it take you to get the deal sealed? I am going down there this week and asking for a different case worker.

    Congrats and good luck!

    #### man you still haven't talked to him? I would definitely go down there and see what the deal is. Good luck, I hope you get a new caseworker and things start moving for you.

Well I got a little bad news. It turns out the truck I'm supposed to start driving in the next week or 2(once carrot harvest starts) has a blown head gasket. It may be worse than that but we won't really know until we get the head off on Tuesday. If it's more than just a head gasket, well, it could be time for an inframe! That would suck because it would take longer than just a day or 2 to fix and we could get the call to get rolling any day now. So I'm hoping for the best but planning for the worst. I put in a couple apps this last week and I'm going to follow up on them this week, maybe one of them will work out, guess we'll see what happens.

Hey, sorry to hear about your troubles with your truck. Hope you were able to get that taken care of!
Well, me and the BF just finished the first week at WePac, and OH MY GOD! I had a headache for the whole week from all the info they stuff into your brain! But, WE PASSED! We are now the proud holders of out CDL Permits!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
I so thought I was gonna fail, but when I passed, I was soooooooo excited!! I know there's still a looooooong way to go, but we did do coupling/uncoupling and backing straight today, and it was cool! I actually had a hard time understanding the book, until I actually got a chance to do the coupling/uncoupling today! I am a hands-on learner, so I'm hoping that the rest of this will go better than the first week!
The instructors all are really cool, and very patient! I think this is gonna be a really good experience! Wish us luck please, we will need it! LOL :biggrin_2554:

I think that the truck has been taken care of. Just waiting on my boss to start getting the loads lined up for me. Still not sure whether I'll be hauling carrots or running a 53' refer, I should know in a couple days. With carrots I'll basically be going to and from the same places every day, Bakersfield to Imperial Valley and back(about 650 miles round trip) 1 load a day 5 days a week, home on Friday and Saturday. With the refer I'll be out Monday thru Friday but I'll make it home 1 or 2 nights a week and have weekends off but I'll be running all over Cali from San Diego to Sacramento and SF to Reno. Bay area and L.A. traffic should be fun lol! :biggrin_25523:

CONGRATS on the permits!!! That's a big step, at least it was for me. Now the REAL fun begins. No matter what just listen to the instructors and if you don't understand what they are trying to tell you let them know and they'll explain it or show you what they mean. It can get nerve wracking just remember to relax, take your time, and have fun!

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!

So I figured I would update here & let y'all know what's up. I had an interview last week with a wholesale nursery. It went pretty good actually. Turns out that I interviewed for this place last year and according to their records, they hired me last year!! Sure wish someone would have told me :biggrin_25523: The last thing I remember hearing from the guy was that he wanted me to go on a test run with him to see if it would be something I was interested in doing but I never heard back from him to set a date, oh well. Anyway, he said he'll keep my application on his desk and as soon as they have an available trainer he'll give me a call, should be in the next week or 2.

Today I went and applied at a couple cement/aggregate companies. One of them said that if they want to interview me I'll get a call in about a week. The other place I applied at called me for an interview before I even had a chance to get home from dropping off the application! So I've got to be there tomorrow morning at 8:30a.m. Wish me luck!
