I`ve learned many things this short week I`ve been with TE , but a very valuable lesson is this, plan to be out of Atlanta BEFORE rush hour starts. Or after . Man this sucks.
-
Welcome to MY world. I live there. Rush hour starts at 2 and goes until about 9.
-
We could have been out of there much earlier but the other trainee has beeen getting some work on real world backing in addition to other things. But he's coming along. TE hopes to drop us both off this weekend IF we have a load going through Indy or Gary. Depends on where we're sent and if the SQT trainers can take us(me) early in the week.
Have a load delivering up toward that way(SW Oh) by 1500 tomorrow. Which means we're heading out at 0500 tomorrow morning. IDK We'll see. -
Waiting now til wednesday to go back to Indy for SQT's!!!!!!!!! Feel pretty good about how things went. Got almost 1300 miles in 8 days of driving. Not too shabby considering I split seat time with the other guy.

Mickey just practice your couple uncouple and backing. you'll do fine....

ok ya'll,I'm getting ready to start Sage school @ Ivy Tech in Muncie, looked and looked at different companies to drive for and i know recruiters will be coming to school,i have a perfect record and no arrest,is Schneider the best i can do and are you all still happy you went with them ?
Thanksnone Thanks this. -
I havent seen any real miles yet. Just training miles. BUT, I've been impressed with how they operate so far. It seems a good fit for me. Only time will prove me right or wrong.
Best , you ask? Well, that will be up to you and how you define best. A company is a business. I personally think , its what you make of it. I just left a good job/company (for the second time), thats seen growth even during this recession. Opened in new markets , paid cash for everything. My first go round with them I would have told they sucked etc... My second stint with them , nothing really had changed on their part. But I had. THAT experience was vastly different. IO accepted things as they were and made the best of it. I was more effective in my job and happier to boot.
So , I say all that to say this. Do your research. Figure out what YOU want out of trucking and what your needs are. Go with the company that best matches what you want. get your experience and decide later if you want to stay with that first company or seek other employment, either OTR or local.
Whatever you decide, good luck. I'd be interested to hear your experiences. -
I just had an 05 retired on me, blown clutch and 3rd gear after having it for 8 months on the road and about 780,000, then I got an 06 for a month before I turned it into the shop with a laundry list of issues (brake grinding, air leak, radio issues, burning/leaking crazy amounts of oil probably from the turbo, air tank drain cord/plug not functioning, etc etc). Retired that one after one month and just got a 2012 Columbia rebuild/glider. Leaking oil from the turbo after 4000 miles, but otherwise good so far. The turbo is obviously old and used so that'll probably either need to be fixed or replace.
So yeah, probably expect your first truck to be an 06, maybe an 07. They're retiring around the 06 range right now it seems, but still see 05's on the road from time to time still. -
I have an 07
