Well lets start at the begining. They will almost always tell you to pick the load up and go with it, even it you have doubts about making it on time. Second, fuel stops must be followed to the letter. If it says put on 50 gals that is what you do. If you put more on than that you will get a verbal warning, if you are a habitual offender you can get yourself fired. Don't skip any fuel stops either, it is the same as putting on too much. As far as communication, good luck, you will talk to several different people on overnight and weekend dispatch... The bad thing about that is sometimes you get conflicting information. Working at Roehl is a game of CYA, always. You always have to work to keep yourself out of trouble, not work to do a good job. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I've never had a warning from putting on too much fuel or skipping a fuel stop. Or fueling at a different truck stop than the one that's on the routing, but I don't do that very much.

Well my 1st week is in the can, and if it wasn't for the attitude from...Shameeka? That's her name or some derivative of it. Hopefully she is not my new permanent FM because I've yet to talk to the one, Ashley, I met when I hired on. I don't do well with B.S. & this girl gave me a warm welcome with a huge pile of it.
Positive side of our confrontation I was understood & was given a load out of Florida & pretty much kept rolling along to 2600 miles this week....8 day week. So if this girl is responsible for this....thank you.
I was given a 2012 Prostar with 16,000 miles on it. When I drove for MVT I had a Prostar & I really like them. So to get a brand new one was great. I don't know if I'm sharing this truck with another, or on Tuesday I'll get assigned something else. Either way I'll keep you posted.
Out of the 2600 miles I averaged 8.5 mpg. I used to think performance like this was only from the Cummins ISX engine. I was impressed with the economy & pulling power of the International MaxxForce engine.
I'll mention I was taking a shower in Ellenwood waiting on my wife to pick me up. I had all my gear neatly stacked in the area beside that black cabinet next to the coffee machine. My coffee mug was stolen! I guess somebody needed a 4 year old cup with still some coffee in it more than me! I'm glad it was just the cup & none of my tools!
Like many of you, I'm one of those drivers that keeps the left door shut and rolls from pickup to my stop without any dilly dallying in between. So as you can figure, though I got 2600 miles, most of my time was sitting & resting. I'm not complaining, I'm actually setting up the point I really love the eLogs. You can run & get miles, and get your needed rest, exercise, decent meals, & conversation with fellow drivers or the folks in the towns we deliver.
In summary the week panned out pretty good. Though I received unjust attitude from one individual, I'm moving forward & confident this is an isolated incident. I will say from the attitude I received, I didn't want to bump heads again, so I never called in on the telephone. Granted there's no need if you're getting the job done, but it is nice to be able to build personal relationships with those you're having to work hand in glove with.Last edited: Jan 12, 2012

Over the last few weeks dispatch has been on a rotation due to holiday vacation time. Started to get back to normal this week.

I will say I have skipped fuel stops when I know the one stop has construction going on in the fuel Island (I275 TA in cinci)....or it has me going out of my way to get to the stop...I just resend message 16...and it recalculates...its not a real big deal..

Don't worry about that dsr, she is most likely burnt out and disgruntled
Dealing with drivers that need there hand held. Once they figure out you need
Minimal supervision and that you can get the job done, then the respect comes and so
Does the miles. Keep up the good work !1026 Thanks this. -
One other thing i suggest doing for the CYA value is use the qualcomm for any issues. I had a similar situation and the QC messages saved me from any trouble. When i first started driving i had a habit of just calling with problems. I got burnt by one dm and from then on i send everything on QC.
childerscarl1 and Zangief Thank this. -
I got the call about an hour ago from my original FM. She said she had medical issues for why she was out an extra week. I didn't go into the BS I dealt with from her replacement.
Anyhow she asked if I was going out tomorrow or Wednesday because I was an extra day out getting to the house. "No" I told her, I was ready tomorrow.
Looks like I'll be driving the same truck again this week! Now let's pray my FM will get me the miles as I'm ready to roll.alex94 and The Challenger Thank this.
