Yep, that's what I'm doing. As soon as Pcola gets in in the morning I'm going to start pestering them. I'm an hour and a half from home, I can sit and watch movies there and get to see my wife and puppy.

I was amazed at the number of drivers who were sitting there, having come off home timeonly to sit in their trucks for 2-3 days...
I don't leave my house for my truck until I have a pre-plan, and then, enjoy/milk every last moment at home/away from my truck...I don't leave until the last possible minute when coming off home time -
Ya agreed but it has happened to me, two of them being babysitter loads off hometime. When its a frozen load makes more difficult if I need reefer fuel.
-
Well I asked and I got my load. From Halsey to Kelly point park. 140 miles. Figured heck yeah I'll take that load, short run gets you the longer run. My wife came down and we were going to go to dinner. I decided to grab an empty before we went. Glad I did. First trailer, no working lights on it, figured it was the trailer. Second trailer, no working lights on it, crud it's the truck. Brooks could not fix though they stayed late and tried. My brand new truck and I are back in breakdown. I take it to Freightliner Monday morning. Yay....

Newer Freightliners are having massive problems with the wiring harness. Good luck to you poor saps who have one.

they were supposedly only giving those turds to suckers who already had one. They were taking as many of the old ones as possible out of the fleet by 12/31 to get them off the books (FL has the absolute worst resale value on the market, indicative of their poor build quality
) and selling them off regardless of miles. I have a friend who turned his in with only 244k on it.
As I explain to people who, for some reason, think they are such great trucks; If they were so great, given the fact that they are $20k+ less than the Pete, then we would get more of them. But the simple fact remains, that over the life of the truck (even our very short ~3 year life cycle here) they cost considerably more than a truck with a significantly higher initial purchase price.
I've said it before, if they offered me a FL, I would take that as a hint that they no longer appreciated me, and it was my time to move on -
They got rid of the older frieghtliners because they were getting ###### fuel mileage on them.
I have a new cascadia and it's a great truck. Roomy and quiet with lots of storage. I have had no issues with it what so ever.
You just need to stop the hate. It's getting a bit old. -
Plus if they are so bad, why did May get 150 new cascadias?
-
How are the exact same trucks going to get miracle miles? DEF isn't going to save the whales, is it?
why did they get more new 587 than Cascadias? lol
hate? I could honestly care less. I was brought up in a Camaro vs Mustang world, it beats listening to everyone cry about their miles and the sand in their vajayjaysmaldaddy Thanks this. -
And life is good! Not terribly happy about the truck's condition, was filthy inside and reeks of cigarette smoke; and as a non-smoker, that's hard to deal with. My cloths are starting to smell like it, and after driving a while, my hands smell like it. I trained in a new T700, nice truck, but I do like the driving position and ride of the ProStar better. It's nice having some controls on the wheel. Turns tighter too. But ####, did I mention a smoking slob lived in it before me? Just bought some incense to try and smoke the smoke smell out with.
My first load was a Coors repower out of Layton to Bend. Got out just before 6 inches of snow hit. Sitting for a day in Bend with sunshine and warmth, not too bad. Supposed to be getting home, see how long that takes... Excited to be solo, felt good to roll that first trip alone. Now if I can just get rid of that terrible cigarette smell...
