Don't know about Lone Star, and there are several decent flatbed companies for owner operators. A lot depends on where you live, where you want to run, how you want to run, etc.

Tuck609 is correct. A lot depends on area. Plus, if you are looking at pulling your own trailer you can look at places that pay better than 80%.

Get your own authority. You don't have to move that much with that set-up so plenty of time to invoice, look for loads, etc.

11 yrs ago I went to their Atlanta, Ga terminal... 1st thing I noted was a billy big rigger with his hood up working on his truck. He sure was busy trying to discourage me from leasing on by bad mouthing the company. I could tell by his attitude he was the terminal drama #########. (stirke 1)

Asked for a copy of their lease, they gave me someone else contract already filled out (strike two)

After a couple weeks, I called them for a application and they sent me some guys app already filled out. (strike three)

fast forward 10 yrs, booked a load from an Co agent that brokered a load from a guy named Scott from Lonestar. They screwed up and sent the wrong equipment and the shipper refused to load me. They needed a flat and I had a step, not to mention that the load was double then what was contracted for, after an 1 hr the shipper release me with no load. I have 140 miles and 4 hrs invested, they have yet to pay me for truck ordered not used.

My question to you is... Can you afford to deal with people like this ?
