lol i know ive been wanting to kick the drivers ### for not washing the freaking thing hes one of those guys that "oh its just a company truck its not my job to wash it" everytime i hear that i wanna smack him
-
The way I feel about it, if your going to put a man (or woman) in the cab of your $130,000 truck and trailer , I want them to take care of it, and during the winter time, you have to wash the salt and sodium chloride off the truck or it will start to eat away at the under-carriage and electrical components of the wiring system.
I "take pride in my ride" and I have learned over time that if you are Proud of the truck you drive and are allowed to "fix it up" then you will be a safer driver. No one wants to put a $1000 dollar bumper on a truck and then run into everything in sight.
I always polished my aluminum and tanks because I wanted people to admire my truck and trailer as much as I did.
Some of these drivers now, just don't care like you said Fisher, it's not their truck, why should they wash it and take care of it. How about because a proud driver is a better driver in my opinion.
If I'm paying for it, or willing to reimburse someone for getting it done, why not? -
Well, I was always willing, (and eager) to keep my truck clean. But there is no way that I would have spent money on stuff like chrome or chicken lights for a company truck. I was there to make money, not spend it. OTOH, my truck was only my home while I was working. I had a home and a family that needed the money a hell of a lot more than my employer's truck did. . .
American-Trucker Thanks this. -
That's a #### beautiful International!
My truck is named "Guera Fea" or "Ugly white girl", lol! -
I will tell you that if he didn't pay for it when I bought it, (I used his credit card that he gave me for this kind of thing) I was reimbursed for everything all the way down to a dash lightbulb.
So the money may have come out of my at one time or another, but I always got it back.
Since my second and I divorced, I just stayed on the road, so I felt like I wanted to live "comfortable".
I was raised to believe to take "pride in my ride" and pride (even though it's one of the 7 deadlies) was something I loved to do. This truck was out calling card to old and new customers.
If they saw a nice looking truck, 9 out of 10 times they thought that we would take care of their load, and business. It makes sense to want to make the customer (s) feel good about hauling their freight.
I know I wouldn't want to pull up at a customers warehouse with a truck that looks like it hasn't been washed in 3 years, with burnt out lights and non working equipment. -
Thank you sir, I appreciate the flowers...

OK, it makes a hell of a lot more sense if the company paid for it.
Whoever paid for it, it IS a sharp looking truck. -
It was my understanding that since he was paying for it, try to make it look good.
After I was gone from his yard for about 6 months (yes I did go home in that time to) He had asked me to book a load coming toward his house so that I could give him all my collected paperwork from the 3 trucks so when i pulled into the yard (his driveway) and he saw what his money was going to and what I had done to his truck, he upped the credit limit on his credit card that I had from $2500 to $5000 so that I could continue to make progress on what he was (in the near future) calling his show truck.
I've been in contact with CAT Scales to see if we can get Paradise on one of the cards.
Do you guys think I stand a chance of doing it? -
Working for Schneider , I should think Linus would be appropriate.
