1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

  1. The funny thing is you can ask any of my friends that grew up with me, and with me being raised around trucks and trucking, I fell in LOVE with the big trucks. The smell of diesel, the sound of the motors, the air brakes being released...all of it.

It went from a family business to a passion, and I will die with diesel in my blood and asphalt in my nails.

I feel for you having to work for a company that treats you like that really. Send me a PM and tell me who they are so I don't make the mistake of applying there ...please.

My attitude may sound like a good thing, but I tell ya, for all the love I have for this industry, she has given me my fair share of heartache. She took my mentor and best friend Jesse, but she also gave me 24 years of fun and profit.

Thats one of those BS rumors that got started. I remember the one that said Marilyn Manson was a woman. If I remember right Cher was a man at some point also. I heard her interview on Howard Stern. If anybody has ever listened to Howard they know how he interviews. He has a way of getting answers out of people that nobody else can. She talked about where the rumors started. Regardless, man or woman, she can sing.

  4. Ok I'm sorry I got this topic started off the intended subject.

But can we please stop talking about Lady GaGa?

Sounds a lot like me. My dad and brother currently own the family trucking company, it's been here 56 years and I hope to carry on that tradition. With my brother becoming partner a few years back we became a 3rd generation company. When I'm done with college (marquette) in the spring I'll be back full time in operations.

But like you said, to be successful you need to enjoy every aspect of what you do. I can say I do, I think I got hooked around the age of 5 coming into work with Pops on Saturdays to ride in trucks and machinery and wash trucks and trailers. Got my CDL at 18, my brother (on the forum as cpape) worked my ### off with 16 hour days as an initiation doing regional work hauling steel, construction and farm equipment. Spent this summer managing the maintenance department after out maintenance director quit for another opportunity.

People say I'm stupid for coming back, that with my education I should be doing something different. What can I say, I got a little thing called "pride", in what I do and what my family has accomplished in the industry.

I have to admit, your point about what being an owner is completely true. The responsibility to deal with the issues threatens to overshadow all that you enjoy about what you do. At the end of the day I guess you have to take the good with the bad.

    I apologize for rambling
