Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Jacksonville is by far busiest.Begging for trucks, but cheap, cheap, cheap.Have seen some offer 85 cents, plus fsc. Savannah, Charleston, both busy, but Jax is booming.Stay out of Miami port unless you speak Spanish. Check J'ville first.
-
I speak spanish and know running out of MIA sucks. I thought that because Jax is busy the rates would be better
-
Can anyone give me info on Roadlink or Nationwide out of Jax ?

Rates hauling cans suck down here. It is very unlikely to get more than .95 plus fuel. Jax and Miami are the two busiest ports in the state. There are a lot of cans out of Savannah as well coming down here, but pricing is pretty much the same as the same players are at all of these ports. Intrastate FL trucking has always been notoriously low paid (we have a large percentage of immigrants as well as guys from PR that are used to making peanuts on the island, at least that is what my PR trucker friends say) , so as someone else said, make sure your wife is getting a raise.
Housing prices will be similar to Jersey for decent housing, property tax will be similar, property insurance will be a lot more, and your car insurance will stay the same depending on the area. No state income tax, though so that should help a little.
I moved back down here after moving up to run groceries from PA to Jersey for a couple years (## C&S and Wakefern!!!), and to make any real money, you have to at least run Southeast regional and find a niche. -
You may need to deadhead up to Georgia to find something with a half way decent rate. I have occasionally gotten decent rates out of Jacksonville, but any further south is not going to be good. If you pulled a step or flat bed you can get decent rates out of the Orlando area when there has been an auction. For the most part, you will need to deadhead out of Florida to find anything worth hauling. You can do better if you pull a reefer.

I use to deliver to both of those places . I run construction on flat beds locally ,the pay is good but I am tired of working in the elements and unfolding tarps
-
What could I do with a refeer? In about 300 mile radius

You can sometimes get something half way decent out of Tampa with a flatbed. At one time you could do well staying in the state and running Jacksonville to Miama or Fort Lauderdale area to Tampa and back. I don't know what is going on in that area these days. The last few months I have had 2 loads going to Fort Lauderdale. I had to deadhead up into Georgia to find something. I got enough going in that I could afford to deadhead back, but it is always preferable to have something to get out without all the deadhead.
